I'm a Vet and September 12 is my wife's birthday, I have never been to NJ, it might be a fun drive, its a long way from Deltona, FL but my wife and I really enjoyed the drive to TN. I will let you know.
I told my wife many times, before we bought our vette, how much fun they were, now she is ready to drive it with any reason. Gene
I most likely can make it also. Is it the VA Hospital in Lyons, NJ?
Keep us posted,

Did you ever find out the exact location of this? Do you have a link to the other forum you were talking about that will take us to the thread there?
Thanks!

Big VA hospital in West Orange - that's where I was checked out when I came home....
Either way, I'm in!!
Paul
Oops it's East Orange. For those of you who don't know the area, If this is the location, security is going to be a concern. Lyons would be the better choice. E.O. has really gotten bad, and if you don't know where you're going you could easily make a wrong turn and wind up in the wrong place at the wrong time
This is an excellent cause, but E.O. is the last place you want to go to, especially with your Vettes.

That's excellent I won't have to bring my Springfield 1911 & my Bushmaster AR-15
Jack, the scenario you proposed would have been an easy & fun Day in EO compared to the every day crime that goes on there
I knew it could not be at the E. Orange VA Hospital, and if it was I was not going without my 50 cal. turret on top of the Vette Starting in Mendham is great for me, thats 5 min. from my house. I hope this works out, sounds like fun

Paul, it would be easier for you to go right to the VA Hospital off 287. To go to this guys house you would be going passed the hospital and then going back again. We need to get an address for the Hospital so you can figure out a route. I'll try to get it and post it here.
Jim, can you ask this guy Jerry if we can have a cell phone # in case we need to get in touch with him, and maybe somemore info. I can't find anything about this show on the web. Is it just Vettes?

OK.
Directions.
From South NJ, take Route 287 North to exit 26A, go straight off exit, it puts you one direction (road name is Mt. airy road), stay straight, go through one light which is intersection of mt airy rd (525) and lyons rd, go to next light and make a left onto Valley Road (512), stay straight on valley road for a mile or so and VA hospital is on left, you will make a left by guard house entrance. you can't miss it. this VA hospital has its own 18 hole golf course built in.
From North NJ take 287 south to exit 26 and when you get off exit , stay to your left, when you get to end of exit ramp, make left at stop sign and go under overpass and keep going straight then start following same directions as above.
From West NJ, Pennsylvania take route 78 east to Exit 33, when you get off the exit, you come to a traffic light at end of ramp, make a left, that road is Martinsville rd. you will stay straight and go through 4 lights at 5th light make a right onto Valley road (512) and go straight and VA hospital is on your left.
From East NJ, New York take route 78 West to Exit 33, at end of ramp there is a traffic light, make a right at the light onto martinsville rd, go stright, you will go through 3 lights and make a right at 4th traffic light which is valley road (512) and go straight and VA hospital will be on the left.
I live 2 min from the place, i know the area very well.
Any questions call me 908-872-2286 cell

Another thing, i belong to a local corvette club and on september 24th we are having a big corvette show at the lyons va hospital as well. other vette clubs have been invited.
here is a copy of the info on it. it was sent to all the club members in the club i belong to:
TO: ALL CLUB MEMBERS
Tom Mulligan has scheduled our visit to Lyons’s Veterans Hospital for September 24th. This event will be in conjunction with a picnic Lyon’s is having for the patients.
For those that wish to cruise to Lyon’s, with other club members, meet in the rear parking lot of Louka’s Diner on Route 22 East, in Branchburg. We will depart Louka’s at 10:30 AM. For those that would rather meet at Lyon’s, arrive at approx 11:00 AM, enter the main gate past the golf course caddy shack and make a right turn into the picnic area.
As you might remember, Tom had scheduled this event for last year, but it was rained out. This is our opportunity to show our hospitalized veterans how much we appreciate their service to our country, so please make every effort to participate.
Please contact Tom by phone 1-908-722-7120 or email
tom.mulligan@ancscorp.com indicating that you will be participating, so that he can get a head count. We have contacted other Corvette Clubs, in the area, inviting them to join us.
In case of threatening weather, check the club hotline
1-908-450-1103.
Hey Jim, It must be nice being an Uncle in VA.
