Yep... pretty Bad!
Talk about stock prices. FORD (blue light special) $1.80 on 10/24/8  and it has 4 times the dilution.
Worry some economy.

It started with the VolkswagenLOL,Import,Import,Import, cheap,we shoulda stopped it right there and done it ourselves but nooo.I can not see the reason for the prices people are payin for the cars nowadays, and there not even repairable,if it gets bent through it away.I was at a recycle center yesterday"junk yard" brand new vehicles sittin there with crushed corner panels bein scrapped, wassup wid dat.And dont even get me started on the prices were payin for our Vette parts only to find out when we get them they are made in China and dont even fit, this $h!t is totally out of control.Wake up America ShockedShockedAngry

When you have CEOs of these companies making 10s of millions of dollars and 30 percent of the average car price paying for retirees, no wonder the industry is in the toilet. The average person cant afford a 30 grand econobox or a 5o grand pickup,,let um go under and some one will rise from the ashes.just my 2 cents worth,,rd

I heard this morning that they need 50 Billion by next year or they will be in deep doo-doo.

Like Gene said Ford is close behind with $$$ worries. Locally the Stealership is offering to you if buy a new Super Duty truck a "free" F150 as well. Trouble is for their asking price you can buy them both straight out for $3 - 4 K. some package deal huh......

I work as a engineer for a larger OEM mobile equipment manufacturer. What happens when you run out of money is shut down all non essential projects, just work on projects that keep the doors open today. Re-size the business to meet today's demand (work force reduction) Ouchand hope you make it through the storm.

Like Glen said when there no money the plants slow down or worse shut down.I work for a steelmill and where I work at has basicly shut down,we will restart in Jan 09. The goverment bails out big bussisness and leave the working man holding the bill.I feel sorry for the auto worker because they will be the ones left holding the bag. the guys at the top it will effect them how? (GOLDEN PARACHUTE) I got a good idea bail out the working people.

I remember back in the early 80's, things got so bad with the company I worked for, we all took a 15% pay cut so they wouldn't have to lay off anyone.  That lasted about 2 years and when things got better,  the company reimbursed us over the next few years for the pay we lost.  Sometimes ya just gotta bite the bullet and hope everything works out.

I don't know about any other companies, but mine was a small private school and we only had about 20 employees.   I know the owners and they said they were taking a pay cut too, and I believed them.  They were good to work for and I trusted them.   They did us right and you can't say that about a lot of employers.   I worked for them for 22 years and can't say a bad thing about them.  Not too many employers you can say that about.

If all the fat cats of these companies in trouble would cut their salaries in half, it would save the company and the workers that MAKE the company what it is.  GREED has really messed up a lot of lives.AngryCensored  That's just WRONG.Angry  Censored

Joe Six Pack can't by a 20K+ car and his house is not worth what he first bought it for 5 years ago, his credit cards are helping him pay his bills, his employer is cutting back and not offering him overtime that he needs to get by. The big company CEO's are out of touch with the Joe Six Packs out there and as long as our Government lets them suck millions from these companys and lay off Joe Six Pack after they get those giant bonuses our country will not improve.

More than likely the goverment will step in after Gm requests receivership protection, and maybe with any luck at all, the higher management will then have to take a pay cut and get  realistic paycheques and hopefully Joe Six Packs (as stated above) will be able to maintain their jobs.

I don't believe any high ranking management person/s will ever take a pay cut.   They would come up with a ill excuse saying to stay with there huge pay and bonuses.   Angry

We..........all of us will be in serious trouble. I predicted this would happen by the year 2010. I guess my prediction was off a bit. The government can't allow it to happen.Wits%20End

We have all heard the expression "Too many chiefs and not enough Indians".
From my perspective many companies and agencies have way too many well educated people who don't do much for the company other than collect large salaries. What do they actually do during a days work?
Let them wear their hush puppies and bow ties somewhere else and let them pay for their own finger sandwiches and bloody marys.
The poor guy in the field can't afford a new pair of boots and is eatin' a baloney sandwich for lunch.
OK (Rant'n 'N Ravin' done for now.)

I sure hope the Corvette survives.

well,

I don't know about you all but if you got a job, even if it sucks. KEEP IT.  i am currently looking for a second job for part time work just to get a couple extra bucks in the pocket since the twins were born last week.  I am pretty sure this country goin down the tubes.  There is a huge unemployment number now of people lookin for work. imagine how bad it will be if GM closes more and more of the plants, dealerships and such.  Plus, Obama claims that he will be bringing home everyone over seas with in 18-20 months. (now i doubt this will happen). But what if he does, thats more soldiers lookin for work if not enlisted or their tour is over.  God help us all.
Keep your vettes runnin' and whatever else you got. soon cars will be the price of a house and you will have to get a mortage to be able to afford car payments.  I may be exaggerating on somethings but the ideas arent too far off.

i don't know if any of you are in the nulcear field or any company that has to do with the nuclear industry whether it be a company that supports or supplies help, parts etc... to the plants, but they are talkin about building two more plants within the next two years.  My company i work for is runnin fine and in fact we are going to be expanding soon enough or so the rumors are saying.  Just a tip.

Anyways,  thats all i got to say about that.

later,
Jeremy H.
