Hey Everyone,

Unlike many of the posts I've seen I'm going to be fairly general. I'm not set on whether I want a project car or an already restored one (and will determine that based on what I see available.)

The only 3 specific requests I have are

 -'71 - '72 (I'm a fan of the eggcrate look)
 -convertible
 -4 speed

Also, this isn't necessary but, if possible, I'd like for it to be Mille Miglia Red.

Please let me know and we'll take it from there. Thank you in advance for all of your help!

Buy the best car you can afford.  You can get upside down very fast on a project car.  It can amaze you how fast you can get financially buried in a restoration.

There are few things more expensive than a cheap Corvette.

When you find the car you are looking for STOP and take two steps back. Then you check it out everywhere, have a mechanic look at ,put it on a lift and check out the underside. Also look for any signs of water leaking on the inside.Take it from a frist time vette buyer,it may look great but sometines it not.

All VERY sound advice, especially the line "There are few things more expensive than a cheap Corvette." I learned the hard way myself. Take heed. Good luck. You can get plenty of help here if you find one you're undecided about. Happy hunting. Thumbs%20Up

Well spoken.  I'm eight years into working on 'The Toy' and have many more to go before it is where I want it to be.  But in the meantime I'm enjoying driving it as much as possible.

Also well spoken is the advice about taking a couple of steps back and throughly looking over a car.  We didn't step back quite far enough prior to the purchase of 'BIGBRRD' and have more than doubled our purchase price in the last two years while it has been getting 'cleaned up abit'.

Another place to look is CollectorCarTraderOnline.

The best advice I can give is to take your time. I too wanted exactly what you're looking for and should have taken more time. I ended up buying a project and what a project it's become! I do love the car though and the light is at the end of the tunnel.

As you start to seriously consider a certain car, feel free to ask all of us some questions about what to look for before you buy.

Good luck with your search!

I think most will agree on this - your first Corvette purchase will be a learning experience. Get all the knowledge you can beforehand - search the archives - there's a TON of info to help. Even armed with all that, you are likely to look back a year after purchasing and think - Dang, I should have looked at this or I should have looked at that before I bought this thing. Knowledge from experience...like most other things.

With all I've learned, would I buy mine again? No. Am I going to sell mine? No. I do know that when it's time for the second one, I'll do a much better job before the sale (and I thought I was reasonably prepared).

You could also look at Used Corvettes for Sale. They list by "C" classification. Helps narrow your search.

All advise above is true, but no matter how hard you look, there WILL be something that will break sooner or later and there's always something to do to them.LOL

25K can buy a very nice Vette but your looking for a '70 or '71 convert w/4speed the value has gone up on these and it's summer time. Just do not be in any hurry looking, do thorough checking and researching and you may find one that you know is right for you. Beware of one with a great price that needs what appears to be little work, and also new paint (resale red & cover-up paint). Hope you find what you are looking for, good luck!Big%20smile

Check out www.usedcorvettesforsale.com I saw a '70 Convert 350/4 Spd Red/Tan 23K in PA #24366, and also a'71 Convert 350/4 Spd Red/Black 27+K in PA #23068, and many more there.

Another idea...Have you posted a WTB at the other various forums?
  ie:  corvetteforum, corvetteactioncenter.

If it was me thats what I would do.
Also I would only buy only from a private individual and not a dealer.
I think there is lots of cars out there..you should find one.

I like the looks of the bottom 3 cars in your post.
If what they say is true, all nice cars.

Just my opinion but if I waited for a "good deal" on a Vette I would still be waiting. My advise?
Find the car you like and buy it.
Geez if you pay $3000 too much it should gain that in value in a year. (As long as its original).
So what. You got a Vette for a year you wouldnt have!

This is an interesting car.  Less than 10k original miles.  72, 4 speed vert.
I don't know about color?  Yellow and White int.  Starting bid 15, but reserve has not been met.  Wonder what reserve is?  Looks nice...

Thanks for the find. It looks in nice condition but that color combination would drive me crazy.

Although going through all of these websites searching for a 71 or 72 I came to the conclusion that I also like the look of the gills on the 69. I know this definetely gives me a much larger sea of cars to choose from. Any input?

Buy a convertible.

69, 71-72. All good years.

But dont get a car that the #s dont match if you want value.

Hows that for input?
