I thought I would be the first to post about Zaino! The Zaino line of car care products is unbelievable! I was a die-hard Meguires (sp?) user for over 15 years, but very quickly became a Zaino convert!

The price of the Zaino products was a little intimidating at first, but I found that on a per use basis the cost is comparable, plus the awesome results makes it all worth while.

I do not work for Zaino and I am not a distributor, I just think the product is worth promoting to others. Check out their website:

I thought I would be the first to offer an alternative to zaino.

If you want to try something different, then give Forumula 113 a try, you will get an incredible shine with just one use, and unlike z, it will do wonders for oxidized and faded paint.

I'm not here to bash z , I just want to offer another choice to you vette lover's...

P.S there Bead X spray is one of the best around...

I've used both Z and Meguires. Kinda like the Z a bit better. If anyone would like to
try Z. I know of a distributer... Just email me and I'll get you in contact with them...
Look s like I might have to give the Formula 113 a try

We have a Z distrib. in our Club (www.ccdv.com) & the members rave about it. I've also heard that it's a bit pricy & can take several hours to do the job right, but once it's done, it lasts a long time & provides a very professional look.

I purchased a package from Zaino last year, about 100 bucks, still have lots left, will have to replenish afew supplies but I was pretty happy. It is alot of work if you clay bar then do the first few applications, but after that, its all gravy, wash , dry and you can zip a coat of Zaino on in nothing flat, wipes right off, no rubbing rubbing rubbing, then ashot of the boost spray, and that stuff smells infrickingcredible, I love it. I don't believe that anyone I have told about it up here has ever heard about it, but they are impressed with the shine. My .02

Thanks Dave

I swear by Zaino. It even made my cracked hood stripe look a bit better and the cracks not as noticable. A friend just gave me the new stuff that you mix, I'm sorry I don't remember the name, I think it's called ZX. I didn't get a chance to try it before I got hit, but plan on it as soon as Destiny comes home and I do a whole new round of Zaino since she'll be totally stripped. You're supposed to be able to do like 3 coats in 1 day which would be great before a show. Anyone tried it yet? Yep, I dig the spray too! :)

Darla, it is called ZFX. Works real well and you can put about 3-4 coats on in a day depending how warm it out. I love the Zaino for the exterior and even the leather conditioner and cleaner. MAkes the seats look great in the CE

I'm not sure what to get, so I'd greatly appreciate some advice. I know they have a process that you are supposed to follow for best results, but don't know what it is. There are some small scratches and swirl marks that I'd like to try and get out too.

Dale, you are going to want to get:
Z1 Polish Lock
Z2 Polish
Z5 Scratch/swirl mark Remover
Z6 Glass Enhancer
Z7 Car wash
Applicator pad

If your paint is really rough and bumpy, you might want to consider a clay bar. To see the correct procedure, check out Sal's website for instructions, or I can email them to you. It would be too long for here

Joe, Zaino CAN be removed. You have to do it with Isopropyl Alcohol, that will remove it if you want to. Trust me, when you get a couple of coats on your car, you will not want to remove it |biggrin|

No one has mentioned what I consider to be one of Zaino's best features: Almost nothing sticks to it! I'm going up the PA Tpke NE Extension Sunday AM and I know that when I get where I'm going, there will be very few bugs. Those few that are there, will come right off with a little gloss enhancer on a rag. I'm into my second year of Zaino and probably have about 8 or 9 coats on the car. I constantly get compliments on the gloss and inquiries as to what I use.

Showing people "the towel test" at shows and club meetings is one of my favorite things to do. I just take a white detail towel, toss it on my hood, and it slides right off. Half my club uses Zaino now.

Chris,
Please try to get your car down to hooters when we get together. I have to see why this product is any better than the stuff I use. I have to admit that I am leary of using something that will need to be removed with I. Alcohol. What will happen to the paint or clear coat if you try to remove the wax to do a touchup to the paint?

Glenn, no problem. Me and the car will be there on the 12th. The rubbing alcohol will not hurt the clear coat or the paint. You can remove a small section if you want to for touch ups. I think you will be impressed when you se what it does to the car. |biggrin|

I will have to look at some cars around here to convince me. I used 3M cleaner wax, followed by a couple of coats of 3M Show Car Liquid Wax, and my car shines like glass. On my black laquer street rod I used Meguires pure carnuba wax and it looked about three feet deep. I think the towel would slide off the hood of my vette if I tried that. But to each his own. Joe

I have used 3M, RainX, Meguire's and Formula 113 over the past 2 years. I seem to get very good results with all of them. None really seems to be any better than the other. I think you can see by my sig pic that the car does shine, but I am always looking for ways to make it shine easier. Getting old, back and shoulders are starting to hurt by the time I get finished washing and waxing. ( I had a real comment to put there but don't want the moderators to get upset with me |biggrin| )

But Glennthat's the awesome characteristic of Zaino. You put it on sooooo lightly(thin) that it takes hardly any rubbing to take it off. Also, once you have a great base coat, all you have to do is keep up with it using Z5 or Z2 whichever is your preference. You never have to strip it unless you want to. And it is not abrasive either

Chris,
When you see the car on the 12th, you will see it at it's worst. It has not even been washed since the S&S. I have been driving it regularly and it shows. Just have not had a chance to even wash it. I will try to find time tonight or tomorrow to at least to run some water over it. All the dirt and dust from the garage being built and the road grime are starting to take their toll. For the past two years all I have had to do is rinse it before shows and use some detailer on it, now it needs a major overhaul. Darla would probably kick my butt if she could see it ( the car that is ) ! |smile|

Glenn,

I used a product called "Finish First" when I had my black Durango. It really worked great. The shine looked 2 ft deep. When I bought my corvette, the previous owner used some really cheap wax, as it was really streaked. A buddie of mine saw it before I used the finish first, and after. He immediately had me order some for him. It really works great. It is really easy to use, too.. I'm sounding like a salesman again, but this polish is really good. Here is the webpage.

http://finishfirstautopolish.com/index.html

I haven't used it on my red Trailblazer yet, but I'm going to before long, if I can find time....

I am usually pretty willing to try almost any product to see if it is an improvement and is easier to use. I have so much wax, cleaner and other such stuff that I may set up a seperate table at Carlisle and try to sell my left overs ( ya, sure, that will go over big ). |biggrin|

Wow, I want a personalized list too :)

I'm going to be getting my baby painted really soon. Should I tell them not to wax it or anything so I can put some of this miracle zaino on there? What do I need if it's coming straight from the shop?

Thanks

If I could see it, huh Glenn? I think I'd would kick your butt if I could see it! The car or your touchee. lol

Ok, when I get mine back, the painter is going to "give" me some GM glaze to keep on her for the 90 days that I'm not supposed to touch her. I'm only to use the GM stuff and wash her, and the Zaino car wash is fine to use. Just not much he said. Running around with nothing on her makes me paranoid, that's why the glaze! lol So, after that, I'm going to give her a nice 10 minute Dawn bubble bath to strip her clean. Let dry overnight in garage. Then, ZAINO my little tail off! The best part? It all smells soooo good!

Is there anything which will hide orange peel? |haha|

I've got a front hood fool of it - and bug tracks in one spot even. |laugh| I think the prior owner had the el-cheapo Maco special done. |headscratch| Not to mention the places where someone touched up the bright metallic blue with navy blue (what looks like marker).

I've heard that Zaino will make the bad parts look even worse.... any truth to that? |wavey|

It all smells soooo good!|/QUOTE|

I've been hearing all sorts of time frames on how long you're supposed to keep wax away from the car after the fresh paint. I've heard from your 90 days to upwards of 6 months?!? That would drive me insane, how long does it take for the paint to cure?!

I'd recommend letting the paint cure for as long as the artist told you to let it. I know that sounds redundant, but seriously, the people who did the work are most likely the people who know the most about exactly what needs to happen for Destiny to look the best she can look. And everyone I've seen talk about ZAINO seems to have a darker colour car and talks of the paint looking 3ft deep.....how does it look on a WHITE car? heheh

Ok darla, what gives? not going to do Zaino on the new paint job? If you are you only have to wait a month (according to Sal) and then you can do it. Remember, there are no abrasives in Zaino like regular wax. That's why they say to wait using wax, it "cuts" the paint.

Hi Chris, where ya been? The painter said that he'd give me the GM glaze stuff to put on her in the meantime. Then I can always strip it all off with a nice warm Dawn bubble bath, then Zaino. Did you read someplace that you can Zaino after a month? Do you think that would be better for her than the glaze at that point?

Actually I was putting a new roof on the house all last week, that's why I wasn't on. If it was me, I wouldn't put the glaze on. I read that about only 1 month in "another" forum where they talk about Zaino all of the time. Someone asked the same question, about how long until they can treat the car.

Why wouldn't you use the glaze at all? Just stick her in the garage and try not to drive her naked for a month?

I am just leary about being able to take it off the car with Dawn or anything like that. One thought, if it isn't OK to wax/polish it, why is it OK to use the glaze on it. Ever think about that? I would probably just drive it locally for a month and then go Zaino nuts on it. Of course, I'm a sick guy |confusing|

I guess he suggested the glaze because that's what they use to buff it out after they wet sand. All that should be done on Monday afternoon I hope. I had to give him the paint code again for the dark brown paint |thumb| for the tail, he still hasn't done that yet. lol I may Dawn her after a month and get the Zaino going. I'd much rather have that on her anyhow. Why are you leary about using Dawn to strip wax?
