June 7 - The Corvette Club of Richmond 18th Annual Roundup, to be held Saturday June 7, 2014 at the Iron Bridge Sports Park, 11400 Iron Bridge Road, Chester, VA 23831, Phone 804-748-7770. Registration begins at 9AM, trophies will be awarded beginning at 2PM. Registration fee is $25 per car advance, $35 per car day of the show. Second car, same owner, $10. There will be a food vendor on site, along with a DJ, 50/50 raffle, Goody Bags, Dash Plaques, Vendors, and a silent auction! We will have trophies in 8 classes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. There will also be awards for Best Engine and Best Interior. Judging will be by show participants. Skyline Drive Cruise

We are officially on for May 16th for our Spring Cruise to once again benefit Blue Ridge Hospice. We will not be entering the Skyline Drive, but will be traveling some gorgeous roads that run through the George Washington National Forest, and will end at the Andy Guest State Park with views overlooking the mountains and Shenandoah River. And don't worry! We didn't leave out Rt 211! SVCC will provide the food (hamburgers, hotdogs, etc.) Price for the cruise is once again $15.00 with the entire fee going to Hospice. There is a $4.00 fee to enter Andy Guest Park.

As in the past, we will meet at the used car lot of Jack Evans Chevy at 9 Commerce Ave. in Front Royal, Va.. Registration will begin at 8:30 AM and we will be departing for the cruise at 10:30 AM. Hope to see many of you there!

We're already planning the fall cruise to include a civil war re-inactment, so stay tuned for that one too!

See www.starcitymotormadness.com The afternoon and evening of Saturday, June 28th (2pm to 7pm) a car/truck/motorcycle show will be held in downtown Roanoke. Many city blocks will be set aside for the car show as well as Elmwood Park. You’ll find a special section set aside for our featured automotive brand this year: Corvette. As of now, over 100 Corvettes will be displayed. There will be automotive aftermarket displays and live music. In 2007 approximately 15,000 cars, trucks and motorcycles gathered for the cruise. The combined events drew over 80,000 people. Attendance was up substantially for the 2007 events. As was the case the last 6 years, this year all net proceeds will go the Virginia Museum of Transportation Automotive Gallery (http://www.vmt.org/). The museum is famous for its diverse collection of America's transportation history with an impressive collection of railroad "rolling stock" including the famous Norfolk and Western J611 streamlined steam locomotive. The museum is currently developing an automotive gallery and has secured the space, partial funding and is beginning preliminary construction. Roanoke is Virginia's third largest city. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the city and surrounding suburbs are home to 236,000 residents.

To benefit the Muscular Dystrophy on Sunday at the Silver Diner in the Jefferson Commons Shopping Center, 12581 Jefferson Ave., Newport News, Va. Rain or Shine, no refunds. Local Firefighters will be at Silver Diner (SD) waiting and bussing tables. SD will donate a percentage of the sales during the event. All Drivers must arrive by 3:15 PM for vehicle set-up. Awards for Driver's Choice, Silver Diner's Choice and Best of Show announced at 6:30 PM. This is limited to the first 40 vehicles, only 1975 and earlier. There is a $20 registration fee requested, please return forms and money by August 4th. ALL checks made out to the MDA. A Free Carshow T-shirt will be given to drivers registered by August 4th.
