At the 2013 Gathering, the topic came up (of course) as to where the next (2014) Gathering will be. There was thoughts of having it at the National Corvette Caravan at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY over Labor Day weekend. The NCM is technically in the East Region of our Gathering Map, but thoughts were that maybe we could make an exception to the rule due to the nature of the event.
If people are not interested in having it during the NCC at the NCM, then we will look to have it in the Upper Middle Region, likeliy in SD, MN or WI.
So, for now, please vote for either one of the two choices. If the vote for the Upper Middle Region, we'll do another poll for exactly where it should be.
ONLY VOTE IF YOU WILL MAKE AN EFFORT TO ATTEND IF IT IS IN A LOCATION ON A DATE THAT WORKS FOR YOU!
PLEASE CAST YOUR VOTE BY 7/15/2013. This thread will be locked at that time, which will prevent further votes or replies.
Thanks!

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
I did not vote because I'm not sure I will make it.

But I would not come if it were combined with the National Caravan because the only reason I would come would be to meet and greet other C3VR members and go on a drive with them.
If you add all of the other Vette I'm afraid that any drive would be like LA during rush hour and that is little more than a parking party on the road. Attending another car or festival would mean a smaller more flexible meeting schedule. Does this make sense to anyone else? Or is it just the hermit in me coming out?
I would like if it were combined with another event. In fact I would prefer that but not a huge Corvette event where the schedule would be much more restrictive.
For example my bucket list includes a trip to Hilton Head for the Motoring Festival & Concours d Elegance http://www.hhiconcours.com/ . I could see me trailering the Corvette to that.

My daughter and I were talking about making the NCM trek next summer. That being said I would live a trip through SD or MN. I didn't vote since I'm not sure we'll be able to make it.

I voted for the Mn, SD, Wis area. I personally think the Gathering is for C3VR members to get together to cruise, see new sites and experience a more personnal relationship with each other. The NCC would put us as a very small part of a much bigger group and agenda, much less personal. It would be great to be part of the NCC, but as far as the Gathering, I feel we would get lost. Just my opinion.

The difference between men and boys is the cost of their toys!!
I agree with Larry, There will be hundreds & hundreds of people at the museum, we should do our own thing.

I tend to agree that it would be very difficult to have our normal gathering at the NCM. Norsky and I could put on half way decent (MN expression for really good) gathering here in Minnesota.

Hey guys,
I thought I'd pass on voting but I'm with Dave & Larry on being at our own C3VR gig and be with the people who make it great.

To play "Devil's Advocate" I'm sure those C3VR folks who were a part of the 2009 National Corvette Caravan and the 15th anniversary celebration of the NCM will tell you that they had a great time. The craziness at the museum was there for us to participate in at our own level and we had several things planned to do as a group (cookouts in the motel parking lot, gokart racing in the evening, etc). Yes there are a lot of Corvettes and people to see but being part of a large caravan is pretty cool too.
And then there is "The Plant". I'm guessing the 2015 C7s should be rolling down the line by then. With all the changes going on there the place will have a different look than we've seen before.
Several of the past gatherings have been held where there were larger events going on in the neighborhood. We still did our own thing and had fun - the other events were a sidebar to whatever we had planned.
Living only an hour from NCM, it would be nice to have a gathering in the upper middle region, so it gets our vote. Just to see another part of the country. We would look forward to any location with this group of fine folks, always a great time, in our Corvette or a rented SUV!!
Agree with what's been said so far and would look forward to the gathering in the upper middle region provided it's at a time we can attend.
