I was going to show pics of the paint job, but, I have never been able to show much on this web site. Is it me? I've uploaded some pics, only the cyber gods know where they are. . I probably need help showing them.

Joel, I was going to show the progress pictures as we go. I've got a gad of them, with a gad more coming over the next few months. How do you think I should post them all?

http://s1370.photobucket.com/user/totalair96/slideshow/        This will be the STINGYA repaint file. Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated. The Dairy Truck has been sitting on a Ranch by our place since the 60's. The friend of mine that is painting the car is going to turn it into a Rat Rod. Look at the phone #. I thought that was cool. You can see I got real lucky that the barbed wire didn't get my bumpers. I'm going to rechrome them anyway, along with the license and exhaust bezels. Those are the original shocks, brakes etc. I'm going to replace the shocks. The car has 14,427 miles on it, and has never seen a winter. Makes things real easy to unbolt.

PB slide show werks just fine, Mario! I do have a comment.....it has to do with the safety of the car in the pics...
The jack stands at the rear are positioned under the spring....not really a good place for them. Best to put the jack stands under the frame just ahead of the rear tire. I'd be askeered that thing would fall off the stands...Shocked

Yep. It was mentioned already. I did not like where he put them. And the car is and always will be 952 Yellow. There is a reason that goes back to 1968 why I have a Yellow C3 Corvette. Probably a story for a different Forum someday.

Nice looking ride! More pics please. Big smile Especially of that big block hiding under the hood.
There is a yellow '73 big block 4 spd. car around my area that is absolutely stunning. I hope to someday own a '73, since it is my favorite out of the C3's. Something about the mix of the rubber bumper nose and the rear chrome bumperette's does it for me. Thumbs Up

'73's are sweet. I passed on a nice 454, 4spd once .....I was 20ish and worried about my insurance rates! In hindsight it would have been a better deal then the small block I ended up with. Pictures, pictures!

I'm going to keep a running log on this. Yesterday was the first day of work. It will be stripped to the bare fiber glass. Detailing the undercarriage we be more of a challenge, because the body is not coming off the car. It's going to be fun. And, the engine compartment does still look pretty good. I'll post some pics of it also. When I was looking for vettes there were three things that I had to have. 1973 car, Yellow, and, big block. I had to look for a few years to find one that was in the condition I wanted. I like to go down the country road with my foot all the way down sometimes...........that's why it's getting a new paint job. I am a middle aged kid after all, and, proud of it!

5 or 6 years ago I decided to replace all the belts, hoses, wires, cap, rotor, coil, points, plugs and thermostat. They were all original, and old. One belt had broke, you can see the replacement, and trashed the hood liner. I replaced the hood liner. That belt was on back order, and was replaced shortly after I took the pictures. Everything was replaced with dated coded original parts. The valve cover gaskets were seeping. I sand blasted them, the thermostat housing, ignition shield brackets. Repainted them with factory paint. Baked them in the oven. My wife was way pleased. I'm going to dive into it again and repaint the alternator, smog pump and A/C brackets. (Black) I should have done it then. Only so much you can do with the motor in. So here is the question to all of you. Everything you see under the hood is correct except for one thing.(Besides the belt that has been replaced) Who can name that one thing first. I haven't figured out what the prize is going to be. Probably something really stupid.

Well....lessee....the air filter is not "original".....and the alternator looks suspicious, but Imma gunna say there's something not quite "right" with the windershield washer pump....
The oil fill cap should be painted orange on all big blocks, but a few weren't, for some reason. Over the years, the paint does wear off. Also...it appears that the valve covers have the "drippers" on them(on the inside)....they shouldn't on a '73....
Other than that, it looks really NICE! Thumbs Up

Key word here is correct. The original alternator is in a box on the shelf. The replacement is correct. The oil filler plug is lost in my garage somewhere. It was painted. My garage is clean too. Go figure. Mouse must have run off with it. The replacement is correct. Believe it or not, I have the original Air Filter. It was pretty dirty, but, I saved all the old stuff I took off the car. The windshield washer pump I forgot about. You got me on that one. I could not find an original replacement, and, It's been years since I replaced it, sooooooooo, that's not what I was referring to. I may have to send you a constellation prize. How about a new C-7, Supercharged.............The valve covers are original. The car was built in November of 72. Maybe they were using up old parts. I don't know. There is one thing you missed, and, I figured you to be the one that got it. Good luck

C'mon Ray Exclamation....throw us a bone here! LOL
Is it cosmetic, or mechanical?
Can it actually be seen in these 3 pics as they are on PB? Remember, we(well, me anyway) have old and fading eyeballs.....

Albo..he did say "under the hood"...Thumbs Up

Whatever it am, it's not standing out like a sore thumb in the pics. The only other thing I would guess is the wiper motor itself, and the brake master cylinder...and maybe the blower motor resistor. This is gunna drive me nutz now.....Angry

That's why I "treated" my motorcycle engine block during working hours when my wife was at work.  First was the hot water wash in the bath tub.  Brush on Sodium Silicate, wash off. repeat. Bake for 20 minutes!

Oh boy, do I hear you John. I'll make sure she's not home if I ever cure paint in the oven again. I just didn't see what was so wrong..........And the Only thing not correct is the 454 emblem is from a 72. No emblems on the 73 or 74. I just kind of liked it.

Original paint Ebo. It looked great for it's age until I spun it through a barbed wire fence. The back and the right side are pretty scratched up. Holes in both back corners, albeit small ones. Damaged the rocker molding. I didn't want to just touch it up and hope it all matched. The factory paint really was less than great in 1973. There are areas where it was thin. There are chips and things that happen to enamel paint. The new paint will be the same color, but, brighter, deeper and more durable..

Ebo, let me expand on that last post. Original paint, but not all factory. I called the original owner 8-9 years ago to talk to him about this car. The factory paint was not good. The dealership touched it up on warranty. He wasn't completely happy about that either.
