Windshield Frame Part Deux

Vette(s): 1972 mille miglia red corvette convertible. This is a car currently under restoration. The pic above is of me and my Ph.D. candidate daughter. She, not my Vette, is my pride and joy. Smile...
My local rebuilder has a frame (birdcage) for a '72 vette.
 
He "believes" the bird cage is the same (particularly the windshield frame) for a T-top and a convertible. The only difference being the center structure that is welded to the windshield frame for the T-top.
 
If that's true, he can save me a bucket load of money when he eliminates the rust. (That is if the rust is so bad that it requires replacing part of or all of the frame. Please stay tuned.)
 
Knowing GM I tend to think he's correct.
 
Does anyone know for sure if that's the case? Or is this a case of wishful thinking?

From time to time we do test fitting for different manufacturers. In this instance we are test fitting the lower windshield frame inner and outer repair panels! This part is something we would have killed for a few years back when we did the Butler restoration and while the price is a bit up there one should consider this cost in direct relation to the cost of time it took me to fabricate these same panels from scratch. There is no comparison!!!! Questions welcome.. The product is ready for shipment and is being added to our web site today. —Windshield lower repair panel test installation (6 photos)
