Well I finally removed the radiator from the 74. In order to get it out I had to remove the AC Condenser and the radiator support. I am wondering if at sometime this car may have been in a front end accident that may have things a little tighter than they were from new. I just cant believe that you should have to pull the support out to remove the radiator. I dread thinking about the reinstall, but I'll be glad when its done.
At first I thought that was the problem too, however as soon as I unbolted the 3 bolts inside the fenders that hold the support in place everything got loose. All li had to do was pull the support back, of course after it was out I have now removed it to do a better cleanup and paint. It seems to never end ! I am enjoying this but I am ready to stop finding more things to spend money on each time you take a step forward! Last night I decided to order a new airdam since its off now, and sway bar bushings, And since the control arms both uppers and lowers are now off I decided to do ball joints and shocks. Does it ever end??? I will post a question under brakes now that I am this far. Thanks for all your support as I go forward. I am sure I have spent more than I should have but I plan on keeping it a long time.
Update on Radiator!! Tonight I decided to tackle reinstalling the radiator. First i installed the radiator support but only installed the bottom screw in each side. This allowed me to pivot the support upright to install the radiator. Once the radiator was sitting on the lower brackets i was able to install the fan shroud. Once both were sitting in place I installed the remaining 2 screws for each side. Next the condenser and job was complete. Now all I have to do is connect hoses this weekend. Wow! I feel so much better now!
