I like the original /stock look so I had the radio repaired.

These are the repairs:

Re-soldered over 50 connections
(two of the digits were not working and were repaired)

Replaced 3 capacitors
Replaced the tape belt
Aligned the coils for best reception
Cleaned & lubed the controls & tuning mechanism
Cleaned the dial area & polished the dial window
Modified it for more bass & treble
Options:
Installed the 3ft. ipod/mp3 input jack
2 new Front Speakers

I started driving in the late 70's, and there is no telling how many of these GM radios I ripped out of trucks and cars and threw away over the years.  What a mistake...  Have you seen what they are selling for??

Crazy.

S/M ELECTRO - TECH, INC. I had this company rebuild my radio years ago for the 74. They removed all the old transistors and converted it over to a newer electronic inner guts but kept the actual body and look. I also had them add an auxillary input for an ipod or outside music supply. It wasnt cheap but it works great and I am very happy with it. There customer service was very good as well. I bought two speakers for my 68 Corvette from S/M ELECTRO - TECH, INC this summer. They work great no complaints. Great to deal with.

OK Gary, here are the beans! Remember with this price included was shipping, 2 front speakers and an auxillary cable, fine working radio and the old fashion look with all new circuit boards, just under $500. Yea it is too expensive but not a lot of choices if you want to keep the original look. It does work great! Rodney

Since we're talking original radios, I thought I would re-share my original Delco story.  It is not quite applicable in this case since it requires a fully operable original, but this is how I got some modern features out of my 38 year old box.

i am thinking of installing a analog radio and  not bother repairing the LED radio, will it hurt the value? will my power antenna not work with analog radio (go up and down) i see them around $80 - 140
