Both headlights, all side markers, two front and drivers rear hazard lights, drivers side blinkers and drivers rear stop/tail/blinker work. The passengers front blinker and rear tail/stop/blinker are the only lights that do not work. The bulb is good. I put an external ground to the rear stop/tail/blinker bulb socket assemly and the tail light will work but stop and blinker still does not. I have no power going to the bulb assembly for the stop/blinker. I looked under the car for signs of wire breakage but could not see anything that was odvious. Could the bulb socket assembly be bad? I have the wiring diagrams and can identify the wires. Before I start taking apart the wiring conduit from the rear bulb socket assembly does anyone know what could be wrong?

If I remember correctly everything from the switches back to the tail light is the same system. So if you have brake lights then everything back there is working including grown and so on.. I looked at the drawing when we had a similar post and someone provided the wiring diagram. My 82 I believe is different not sure. If it is the same I could give you more info/help. But again I'm almost positive everything from the switch (both turn signal and brake) are the same.

From the description, and what you have already done, I would suspect the turn signal switch. You say that the pass side FRONT hazard works, but NOT the turn signal, correct? Does that light come ON for the turn sig but not blink, or does it not come on at all for the turn sig? Same question for the rear light...does it come on, but not blink, or does it not come on at all when using the turn sig? The tail light working with an added ground is a separate issue. You need to correct that anyway, but I don't think it has anything to do with the turn sig/brake lights not working on the one side...especially the front turn sig.....depending on the answers to the above questions....

I fixed the ground problem. Now have all hazard lights working and both tail lights working. The passengers rear hazard light is not as bright as the drivers rear. Adam, answers to your questions: The passenger side turn signal lights (both front and rear) come on but do not blink. The passengers brake light still not working.

The brake light signal goes thru the turn signal switch, which is why I mention that as a possible problem. The pass side rear hazard lamp being dimmer still indicates a ground problem. You may well have a bad socket in that location. I think I would replace that socket, or install a temporary test socket to see if that is an issue. If not, then it would be time to crawl up under the dash, and start testing wires from the turn signal switch, at the connector at the bottom of the column. Fiberglass cars certainly have a boat-load of ground problems...

I replaced both taillight sockets twice with the cheapie ones at the parts store before I got the ones through the GM dealer. Much better, but watch, the color codes are different so test wire them first!
