Got and easy one for you. The original distributor as a wiring harness coming from it's base. What is it.  The new one doesn't have the wires.

Those wires would be for the ECM.

If your car still has the original CCC "Computer Command Control" system, you'll need a distributor with those wires otherwise there will be no spark advance. The ECM used those wires to advance or retard the timing accordingly.

If you can't find a distributor with the proper wiring let me know I may still have an original '81 distributor laying around. lmk.

Sarge

Here is a link to the distributor I bought. If this one will not work I still have the original distributor. What would I have to do to rid myself of the original distributor and run the 65K.

The dist in the link WILL work. You'll need to run a vacuum line to it for the advance.
Your Check Engine light will prolly stay on since you will no longer have any ignition input to the ECM. Iirc, you can jumper a couple of wires in the connector to trick the ECM so it will not set a code and turn the light on. Since you've changed the engine, you really have no need for the ECM anyway, so you can just unplug the dern thing and be done with it. Thumbs Up

Ed, I have a crate engine and did exactly what Joel said.  I still have the ECM in the car just in case someone needs it down the road.  I know exactly where it sits.

Nice looking distributor. Great price too. Are you still running the original electronic feedback Q-Jet carburetor? If so you might want to switch over to a regular Q-jet.

I switched everything over when I did a crate engine back in '01. Even went as far as to remove 99% of the computer wiring. I have to laugh though. The car now has double the computer wiring since I decided to shoehorn a LS1 engine in. lol.
