Changed out my bronze fuel filters on my 4150, and now I have a slow fuel weep comming out the threads of one of the fuel line flare nuts.  It is as tight as I can get it using a flare wrench.  Can I use teflon tape on this or would that just make a bigger mess.  I love these cars, fixing one problem just leads to another.  Angry

It may be that your fuel line, connection, is a little off center.  Look at that.  and have fun at the Hangmans House of Horror in Ft Worth!!!

The seal in flared fittings is the line against the seat, pushed down by the fitting nut.  There is not anything to do with the threads, so I suspect Dan is right.  Or maybe a tiny speck of something is keeping the line from fitting cleanly.  Teflon tape can only cause problems.

Yea, that's what I was thinking, I just didn't want to have to take it apart AGAIN.

Sometimes, the flare on the end of the line, where it fits against the fitting, can get flattened out over time, and will just not seal anymore. I've also seen them have small cracks in them right at the flares. Then you get a seepage from the line. Check to see that both sides of the connection are clean first, as has been suggested. IF the end of the fuel line itself where the flare is has flattened, the only real solution is to replace the line.
However, in emergency situations, I have used sewing thread to tighten the connection up, and stop the leak. Remove the line from the carb(or pump), and move the ferrel(nut) back from the flare. Wrap 6-7 wraps of sewing thread around the line, close to the flared end, clock-wise. Use a small amount of grease to hold the thread on. Then install the line as usual. This method has worked many times, but it is NOT meant to be a permanent fix, tho is does work 99% of the time. What it does is make the end of the flared portion a little thicker, as it was when new, so the nut(ferrel) will tighten down on the line nicely.
Teflon on fuel line fittings is usually a wasted effort.Thumbs Down

Anybody know where I can buy just the short piece of fuel line from the fuel block to the carb instead of having to buy all three pieces?

I personally would make one..if you don't have a flare tool go to the shop where you get work done with a 3/8 line the length you need and have them flare it for you..most guys are plenty helpful if you slide them 10$ or at least offer it..most guys won't even take it..we don't use the flare tools much anymore and just like making stuff..don't drive the car there then they will think that you have no idea what you are doing and think you are a dink..say it's for your lawn mower or something! LOL..just kidding..people come in all the time and we help them just the same..we are all in this same boat together might as well have fun!
