My 327 cu 350 hp decal on my air breather chrome top is deteriorated.  I have bought and received a replacement decal.

Does anyone has a recommendations on what to use to get the decal off without scraping.  I don't want to scratch the chrome top.  Is there a adhesive remover or anything for this purpose out there?

God  Bless, rick

Goo Gone works on tape adhesive.  You can get it lots of places.  I have used it on a lot of surfaces and have not had a problem but i would try it on the underside first just to make sure.

I'll second the Goo Gone. You have to peel the foil part of the decal off first so the Goo Gone can penetrate the paper that is stuck.

If it's a chrome lid, try lacquer thinner.

My all time every day removal method - hair dryer. It softens the adhesive and allows you to peel the sticker off. If there is residual goo all of the above methods will work. Being chrome steel non of those chemicals will harm or alter the surface. I'd say rubbing alcohol will be the lest invasive to your skin and nose other than purchasing goo gone...which is an awesome product and can even be used on leather or cloth. We used goo gone up at Heavenly Ski Resort to remove sticker goo from high end ski jackets and suits that had "sale" sticker etc on them. If they sat around the whole season a lot of the stickers left goo. It left no signs of the sticker or the chemical in goo gone. Neat stuff.

My Christmas present to ME! Bought Sat 11-30-2013. 72, 350 4 spd, Silver with blue interior...Can't you just hear Pablo Cruz playing in the background?

Seeing as how it is on Chrome....if you have no Goo-Gone try some brake clean. It will moisten up the paper (after you peel off the plastic) and you can "work" the paper off. Good luck with your endeavor.
