They actually make the jacket off of a picture of your car that you give them. He actually came out to my car that weekend and took pics because he said he never saw the front center grill on a 72 and he wanted to get my wheels right as well. I am very happy with this and I also had him do one for my dads Monte Carlo SS for the perfect Christmas gift. But this was only one part of a great week.
My brother and sister inlaw came home (to Pa) from Kentucky so Thursday morning I had to give everybody a ride in the 72. It was such a nice day that I was able to have the top down. The neatest thing was when I took my nephew Hayden for a long ride, when we got about 3 miles from home I pulled over and told him it was his turn to drive. You could tell he wanted so badly to drive but he was scared to death so he said he better not. Hes only 17! I unbuckled my belt and told him our only way home was if he drove. He jumped into the drivers seat and off we went. He had both hands on the wheel and you could see he had a death grip on it. We traveled at about 25 MPH in a 45 MPH zone as he was so nervous. I told him to relax it was only a car. When we pulled up to the house and his dad was outside waiting for us to return he was shocked to see his son driving. He was taking pics and by this time Hayden was all smiles as he pulled into the driveway.

I could tell his trip home was made in that little drive. Before they left tonight Hayden gave me a driving hat for when I drive the vette. Similar to the one hes wearing but mine is solid brown! Never had one of them before.
The last thing that happened before I put the car away was an old friend I ran into on the way home Thursday ask if I would take his son for a ride and I couldnt say no. We went for about a 5 mile round trip and he was all smiles. Then Friday morning his mom called to tell me that I made his day. All and all it was a great week with lots of friends, family and vette!

That's great, Rod! It's funny how something that's "just a car" can have such an effect on people

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
A ride in a Vette really does wonders!
A friend of mine has a son in his late 30's who is parapalegic. During the warm months I get him out for a ride in the Vette with the tops off. (No tops makes it easier to get him in and out of the car.) He's barely able to speak but his face sure lights up when we hit the road.
It's nice to share the thrill of our Corvettes with others. Does me some good, too.

love both the jacket and story. I have many times let a younster in my car at a cruise-in or car show. You never know what fire may be lit in a young heart by just touching these phiber glass chariots. On Thaksgiving, I took my son-in-law with me to pick up a 'smoked turkey' in my C5 (I tried smoking a turkey once, but was unsure of which end to light
). I let him drive back and I sort of made him (ok..ok..heavily encouraged him to) drop the hammer. He is 30 years old and his smile was as big as a kids!

Warning: The surgeon general has declared that it is NOT unhealthy to smoke your competition AND I just discovered that my corvette is a hybred. It burns gas and rubber!
