GUIDE. IT's not a bible just a guide meaning it is not year specific. They ask you to pull the dipstick. The judges are not suppose to touch anything! Guide example 78-82 reads has a silver intake manifold . They don't break it down for each motor. L-48 color is. Corporate blue L-82 is silver. Ncrs at a chapter level read the guide and tried to deduct points because it was blue. I had to prove to them they didn't have accurate information. Remember it is only Bloomington Gold at the time of judging. Unless you put in a capsule at the time and don't make any changes. Usually members who drive their car will put back on aftermarket parts. Sad to say even Corvettes @ Carlise people are stealing original parts off your car. Dipstick is on top of list followed by gas cap, oil cap, radiator cap etc.
Redwoman: I have been in touch with NCRS judges familiar and own LT-1's, same year as mine being a 70. Was informed that the 70 LT-1 dipsticks read: ADD o o FULL USE GM 6041-M QUALITY MS OIL. The one I have is from late 71, 72. Being the purist I am I want the correct dipstick even though the car has been Top Flight 3x, Duntov PV & Bloomington Gold. Regarding Carlise, I was there 2 yrs ago when the 64 was recognized. My 64 was on display and learned about the theft that u are referring to, such as gas caps. We were told that a security guard would be watching the 64s on display. Fortunately,I did not have anything missing. People have no shame.
