I am replacing the calipers, brake hoses and master cylinder on my ā70 (with 4-speed).Iām considering replacing all the steel lines as well.
1) Relative to the brake line on the left side frame rail: (a) I can cut the brake line clips to get them off, but what's the trick to putting new ones on without lifting the body? (b) If the car is on jack stands, does this provide enough height and clearance to install a new line?
2) If I purchase a brake line kit from one of the well known Corvette parts suppliers, how well do these pre-bent lines fit?
3) Are there any other significant issues I may encounter?
I just replaced the front to back on my 72 with ss line. It is not that hard just take your time and it will fit fine. You can get kits from most Corvette parts suppliers. I got mine form Muskegon Brake. Make sure that you get the two brass fittings for the rear crossover lines. They will crack when you take them appart.
The brake lines can be replaced with some time and a little bending. The stainless steel lines are the way to go. The fittings need to be tightened a little more then the standard steel lines to get them to seal correctly. Just make sure you have good quality wrenches or you could round off the fittings.

I agree with the part about ease of installation, but very much disagree about SS lines. They are more expensive, harder to flex, and prone to leaks. They last longer, but your originals lasted 30 years.

I just replace the line that runs along the left frame rail ,it was a major pain .my advice if you do this do it on a lift I did mine with the car on jackstands.To fish the line around the frame and body I bent the line as I moved along.Going around the frame to the rear wheels gets tricky.But with patients it can be done.I put steel line back on mine because it was easier to work with.
