Does anyone have experience with Dynamat products. My car is in the paint shop and the interior will be taken out. I have the opportunity to add some thing and am looking at this type of product.

Jason, if you do a search here for "dynamat", you'll find several threads on different types of insulation, and member's opinions/experiences with them. I'm surprised no-one else has chimed in on it...

Dynamat is heavy and expensive. I did the interior of my '73, and then covered that with Dynapad to block the heat. Be aware of adding too much thickness in areas that might prevent re-assembly of things like the console.

Used it when putting "BIGBRRD" back together. As mentioned above I just made sure to trim it back a little where there would be some fitment issues. It has helped to quiet the interior down some and reduce the heat from the exhaust system.

I used Dynamat from front to rear. It quieted down road noise a noticeable amount and really cut down on the heat when I had the full exhaust w/cats. My wife did notice that the heat was cut down considerably. Her legs and feet didn't cook like they used to. Along with my tinted windows and shades for the glass t-tops the A/C worked a lot better.
It is heavy and expensive, but that wasn't about to sway my decision from using it. I figure I already had and still have stupid amounts of money in a car that I will never recoup. But I never built this car to be an investment.

I used the aluminum tape (for duct work) to seal the seams. Just a thought.
I did the same thing, I put bed-liner down, than the foam stuff and topped it with a felt type padding. as for fitment I don't know yet haven't got it together

Thanks everyone for the responses and experiences. Especially thanks Pilot for the pictures. That is an impressive job! I'm doing it for the reasons you all noted. Heat...noise...and everything else! I'll let you know how it turns out.
I'm in the middle of an interior upgrade. I used a combination of dynamat and insulation. I originally started out to just use the insulation then a friend gave me a few pieces of dynamat.......the stuff is terrific and goes down real easy. For my next car I will plan on a combination of the products.
@ Steve. I too used the Frost King Duct Insulation from Lowes, laying it over the top of dynamat in much of the cockpit. Dynamat is a sound-insulating material, whereas the Frost King provides a thermal barrier. The thermal insulation signficantly reduced the amount of heat radiating into the cockpit from the catalytic converter - which ultmately made my air-conditioner more effective on warm summer days (as did tinting)
