Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed
Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 42K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.
2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible - DAILY DRIVER!!
I've thought for some time that it might be nice to put newer (C5) seats in my '74 Convertible. As I looked at some on e-bay, I noticed that none of the ones I was looking at were heated, so I expanded my search to C6 seats as well.
With the top down, I have occasionally heard from the passenger that it can be a bit nippy (funny, I've never noticed), so I was thinking that heat in the seat might help that situation.
My question is, will the electrical system in the C3 be able to handle power and/or heated seats? Don't worry, I wouldn't do the installation myself - I would have someone who actually has some idea what they're doing take care of it.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
Vette(s): 1978 Silver Anniversary L82
Previously: 1965 300hp Coupe in 1967.
1967 435hp Coupe in 1968-70.
1969 350hp T-top w/ac and all power options.
The heated/power seats sound like a comfortable upgrade! I don't see a problem for the C3 electrical system handling the extra juice, but you may want to run a dedicated circuit from the battery for the seats. Be sure to add a fuse at the battery to protect the wire from any shorts.
Check to see if a timer will be part of the system you get. The heated seats that I have had use a timer to switch them off after awhile so that you don't cook your bottom!
