I'm glad I had two kits as I was putting mine together because for me some of the screws in each kit weren't right. But with both kits I had options.  And yes, I will have a bunch left over.

This is exactly what happened to me.  I bought one screw kit from Zip, and then accidentally bought another kit from Wilcox.  I'm glad I had two kits, but I still came up short on screws that I thought should be black.  BTW, the light bulb kit is handy too.

Got my screw set from Corvette America & I agree...some of the screws are a little different, never thought of just buying another from a different suppliers (duh).  BTW - MAM carpet is really nice - got floor mats & a matching cargo mat last year when we were there - get alot of compliments on them.
Welcome aboard!

Ebo, great tip on the picks, I'm checking harbor freight for something that will work. I wish MAMO would have video'd the install! Rodney, I am a die hard Yankee fan! I was raised in Colorado before the Rockies, so I chose the Yankees, never looked back! D

More help needed. I received the new carped and insulation. I know there is a leak so I tried to find it before installing the new stuff. The area around the wipers (wiper cowl?) is leaking when the water pools there. There is already some sealant in the area. Should I remove all the old stuff and Reseal it? Is so what should I use? Can I use like a roofing tar or something similiar? Thanks Dennis

Dennis,
Leaks can be tuff to find! When I did both of my cars I coated to whole inside wiper area with POR15. This is an epoxy paint and I used the gloss black. I like the way it looks but the factory wasnt a gloss. With the epoxy it should seal a leak if there is one. Where does your water come in at? Is it in the bird cage area? Hopefully not. Im not home until Sunday night or I would try posting of pic of what it looks like done in the gloss. I put it on really thick and heavy also. I dont know about resealing it with any other sealer. Hopefully others will throw some input your way on this.
Rodney

Thanks Rod, I actually have some POR 15. That is a good idea to start with. I don't think the leak is in the birdcage area. I'll try to get some pics today. Some guys are using spray in bedliner. Still researching what to use.

Leaks!  My '73 carpet was pretty smelly when I took it out.  I found that the rear glass was loose and the two rear drain tubes were both cracked.  The drain tubes I'm talking about drain the chamber behind the rear window.  I would post some pictures, but I can't get it to work on this site.

Don't give up!

John

Thanks, I will check the drain tubes and rear window.  I know the wiper tray is leaking.  I completely cleaned the tray today.  The PO had a lot of stuff in there (putty, sealer, ect)  The wire mesh at both ends was completely sealed up with sealer.  So water would just sit in there, of course it leaked.  I am going to use Spray in bed liner and redo the whole tray.  I am also going to fix the wire mesh so the water drains properly.

More to follow.

Thanks Dan, I am itching to get the carpet in.  I need to fix the leaks first.  I have some pictures I am going to upload tomorrow morning.  I am going to use Eastwood brushable seam sealer first (on order).  Then I am going to spray the whole tray with rubberized bed liner.

I am using insulation from Vette Nuts (the kit looks pretty good).

I am searching for a set of fiero seats and am ordering a Shark Bar (so I can run a 5 point harness).

If I can find fiero seats I may save for some Corbeau A4 seats (big investment).  My stock seats are shot........Another big investment to repair.

Dennis

Mamelukesword said: You guys are all awesome!  I have been on forums for jeeps, old trucks ect, and the hospitality here in one day is great.

Rodney,

Thanks for the offer on the spray gun that would be huge.  I still have some research to do before I pull the trigger.

The current liner that is in there covers the whole floor including the area beneath the center console.  No paint overspray, so I guess it was a previous owner install.

I watched the video with MAMO on my classic car, I am sold on their carpet.

Is anyone just using Dynamat?  I would hate to install it then be sorry I didn't use lizard skin.  I know the to completely clean the whole floor will be  a huge undertaking.  Still undecided, definitely thankful for all the input and hospitality.  More to follow, I have never worked on corvettes, so there is a big learning curve.   Most my work is on Jeeps.

Thanks
Dennis

Very cool I'm looking forward to seeing this project myself, I have to do the same thing..
I guess I'll use you for a guinni pig Wink
My factory coating (painted) is pealing as well so I'll have to scrape mine, I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do for carpet as well...

Me coming from a Jeep world as well I just sprayed mine and left the drain plugs out.....wash
and wear :)LOL
