The passenger side hood latch won't release. Tugging on cable under drivers side feels slack. Is there a way to reach the latch and release it. I cannot open my hood?

John, here's a good thread that should be very helpful.

Good luck

The crossover cable is probably broke or loose on one end.  The passengers side is more aggrivating to release than the drivers side when working through the firewall but there are plastic plugs that can be removed that will allow you to do it.  If you dont have any luck after reading the post listed above, let me know and Ill post some detailed pics of the latch and a tool that will unlatch it....but not without throwing a few things and lots of blue language.

NOT OPEN YET - I WILL MAKE MY ATTEMPTS OVER THE WEEKEND. MY HANDS ARE LARGE SO GETTING IN UNDER THE HOOD AT FIREWALL WILL BE INTERESTING.

MAY NEED SOME TIME ON THIS JOB. DON'T WANT TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF TRANNY SLIPPING, IT NEEDS FLUID.

Crossfire1982.  Any pictures you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I am not sure of the latch mechanism that needs to be yanked.

My car has a cover over the wiper trough so mine is a little more difficult to get to the holes in the bulkhead as yu can see.  The holes are plugged with rubber plugs that can be pushed out.  I took mine out and left them out.  The passengers side latch is located almost directly in front of the hole in the passengers side wiper trough. The part you will be probing for is shown HERE with a screwdriver.  You will need to push DOWN on this part with your tool.  The tool will need to be bent a little in order to get through the trough and engage the release as you see HERE.  This shot shows the tool engaging the release  . Since I have to go through the wiper door cover I made a SPECIAL TOOL  that you see here with a 12 inch scale.  I hope these help you
