ZR-1 Net Registry Joins One Acre Club

In December 2008, the ZR-1 Net Registry kicked off what would become a friendly rivalry between themselves and the Grand Sport Registry by purchasing a quarter acre as part of the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park fundraising campaign. Three years later that rivalry is in full force as the group presented a check for $15,000 to the Museum at this year’s C4/ZR-1 Gathering, making their total contribution to date 1-1/4 acres.

Dave "Mom" Bright said his group is very excited about the park, “You can’t build it quick enough!” Dave added that they come down every year for the Gathering and enjoy participating in drag racing and autocross – but that the weather is unreliable. “You will be there for a three-day event, and maybe the day you are scheduled for drag racing its raining, but one of the other days the weather might be ok but can't reschedule. When you own the track, you have the flexibility of changing around the event at the last minute whereas now you can’t.”

Currently the “One Acre Club” Campaign has a total of 26 full acres committed, 2 half acres and 8 quarter acres. The “One Acre Club” promotion ends December 31, 2011. 3D Corvette Film in the Works

Corvette enthusiasts will have yet another chance for a Corvette "experience." Onset3D Studios announced their flagship project, "Corvette 3D Experience", and has begun a unique fundraising campaign to raise money to produce the film.

Utilizing the National Corvette Museum as the premier authority and resource, Corvette 3D Experience will examine the evolution of the Corvette, and explore the lasting appeal to owners and enthusiasts, and its ability to firmly claim title to America’s Sports Car.

Currently in pre-production, the Corvette 3D Experience will need a minimum of $195,000 to begin principle photography. A special theatrical version of the Corvette 3D Experience will be produced exclusively for the National Corvette Museum for public showing, offering us a new attraction and an additional revenue source.

Supporters of their crowdfunding campaign will get perks ranging from the Corvette 3D Experience 2-disc set on HD Blu-ray 3D and tickets to the Premier, to having their Corvette featured in the documentary.  A list of perks can be found on their crowdfunding page at: www.indiegogo.com/corvette3D

2012 ZR1 Laps Nurburgring in 7:19

The Chevrolet Corvette returns to the famed German track - the Nurburgring - to test the 2012 ZR1 model. This year's test run eclipses the time set in 2008 by more than six seconds.

Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter said they brought the ZR1 to the Nurburgring because "we have a pretty substantial performance upgrade, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires are much stickier, we also have other chassis improvements, we have aero improvements so we hope to show that we've really improved the capability of the car."

This year's lap beat the previous Corvette record by more than six seconds - and is a completely stock car, exactly how a customer would receive it with the exception of some safety equipment which actually adds weight to the car. Watch the video with Tadge's comments on You Tube here.
