Hello again all, As you may remember earlier this year I sent an email to all that participated in last years Corvette's Cruise for Cancer saying that due to a set back in my own health situation that I was unable to do this years show. Well I am happy to announce that the show will go on again.
This years format will be slightly different then last year. I am eliminating the cruise this year. Only because some of the older cars were having a hard time staying in the procession. What I am doing this year is not only donating money to prostate cancer but I am expanding the charity to include breast cancer as well. Any money that is collected will be split equally between the two. Last year we had 175 cars raising $8000. The goal this year is 200 cars and hopefully $10000 - $12000. I know that we can do this. Some of the changes are as follows:
1- There will be a $20 application fee payable to the American Cancer Society, but mailed to me for forwarding to my Cancer Society Representative. All application fees go directly to the charity.
2- This will be a show only and a judged show. Not NCCC judging though. Again the host of the event is Cocomo Joe's of Cave Creek. The corporate people will be doing the judging not on originality but on general appearance and cleanliness. They are classic car owners themselves so they know a nice car when they see one.
3- There will be raffle tickets sold for prizes to be given away throughout the day.
4- There will also be raffle tickets sold for a 50/50 raffle. The more tickets sold the more the winner stands to split with the charity.
5- I am going to try and negotiate with some venders to sell Corvette merchandise at the show with 10% of their sales going to the charity. I am also negotiating with one particular merchant to make official T-shirts. What I am going to do is have the merchandiser make the T-shirts and sell them at the day of the show. He will then donate any amount over his cost to the chairty rather then ask for an additional amount above the application. I think that it would be better to be left up to you the participants weather you would want to buy one or not.
The date of the event is set for April 6, 2003, more on that will follow as events progress. Adam owner and operator of this site has provided web space for the on line printable application. The address is http://www.C3VR.com/cac2003. Fill out the application and classing sheet and send those 2 papers back to me with your application fee. As last year I will keep you all informed as to events as they become available. I will also ask that you ask your employers and fellow co-workers if they would like to make a contribution however big or small to the event. Be that in goods or services. I am trying to encourage vendors to come to the sell their Corvette related products at the show and asking them that they donate 10% of the days sales to the charity. I will have their business cards at the registration table as well as plugging the individual companies through out the course of the show.
With your help we can make this years show bigger and better then last year and be able to raise more money then last year. We can do it, I know we can. Lets show the corporate world that the little guy can make a difference.
Update: I am very happy to announce that Adam, the owner and operator of this forum, has graciously provided me with an on line registration site. The address is: www.C3VR.com/cac2003 you can go there and print the necessary forms. My heartfelt thanks goes out to him for donating the space for this charitable cause. Also I have reached tentitave aggreement with the t-shirt vender. He should be selling shirts about the show with a good portion of the proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society. I have one band committed to the show so far and there have been a number of venders that are coming forward to donate goods and services to the show. This is getting really big. With any luck I am hoping to have this become an event for the entire Southwest next year and have some of the groundwork in place to go to a national event having the same show running at the same time in different locations around the country. That is still in the beginning phases at this time but it is off to a good start. Please sign up as soon as you can so that I can get the right amount of trophies and dash plaques ordered. Again my thanks to Adam and this great site for showing that we can make a difference. More to come
Thank you all, Joe Bria Event Coordinator

I am very happy to say that a couple of weeks ago I was at the Corvette Club Of Arizona to make the presentation about the event. It just so happened that the date of April 6th, the day of the show, was the same date the CCA held their annual founders day cruise and picnic. By the end of the meeting I was informed by the clubs director of events that they are re-scheduling their event so that they can attend the Corvettes Against Cancer show. Way to go guys....I can't thank you all enough for that
I spoke with the president of Las Vegas Corvette Association and sent him all of the information about the show. He had basically said the same thing that CCA said. He is going to look into rescheduling an event that they had for that same day and try to get down here as well. My thanks goes out to them as well.
I got the first check from a Corvette owner living in Cave Creek. He is the first to sign up to participate in the event. You know who you are and many thanks to you.
I would urge you all that are planning on participating to sign up as early as possible so that I will be able to get in the order for the right number of dash plaques. I know that this is Christmas time, but isn't that the time of giving?? Anytime after the first of the year would be just fine as well. I am probably going to have to put a cut off date on the registrations that would receive a dash plaque and if any sign up the day of the show I will hand out dash plaques until there are none left to go around.
From me and mine to all of you and yours, a very Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years to you.
PS I will be out of town and away from the computer from the 23rd through the 31st. If you need to reach me for any reason you can get me on the cell phone.
