Dave (dave076) and I met in executive session Monday night via phone. Looking at the requests of when not to have the gathering, we have come up with the following proposals. Both are based on staying away from June because the weather can still be a bit iffy up here and everyone getting back before Labor Day to get kids back to school.

UPDATE: OPTION 1 WAS SELECTED:
Option #1 - July 13th through the 17th. This is eight days after the 4th of July and allows ten days to get back east for Ebofest.

Option #2 - August 10th thought the 14th. This give you nine days to detox after Ebofest and ten days to get back for Corvettes at Carlisle. It also allows for plenty of time if your kids start school prior to Labor Day.

Dave and I also talked a bit about location, he has relatives in Fircrest (Tacoma) and I live in Gig Harbor. We'll start looking for lodging options with security, trailer parking and possible RV options in mind.

Hey Tom74, thanks for responding to our request for addition help. I realize Medford is a bit far away but perhaps we'll get you in on our next conference call.

So let's hear it !! Let us know if you plan to attend and which dates work for you !!

That's funny, please do not be concerned about ebofest....that date can always be changed and does not affect the whole group just some of the crazy eastcoasters.
Plan what ever date is best for the group and your area.
Ebofest will be fine.....the next one will be the 6th one..... so it really should be held 666.....
Carry on.......
Thank you, Evil Smile ebo

Thanks for taking charge of this!!

My one favor (for now) is that you try to find a hotel that has been built as recently as possible.

Thanks!

Ebo - thanks, we'll take you up on your offer if we need to. Does either of the two proposed dates work better for you ?? I know you wanted to come out to see family in Tacoma.

Adam - no truck stops or outdoor toilets, we promise. Any preference on the two dates proposed ??

So far the July date has the momentum, Sarge is a go and I believe Cindy (cinor) liked that date from my earlier post. Two to nothin', but it's not over yet.

John, I don't think either will matter much, I know any time I have been there in August the weather has been fantastic. This year you had great weather from May till now....so who knows.
I'll either come in before the date chosen or stay after the gathering.
My brother will have me out on the boat (which he keeps in Gig Harbor) fishing every day!
I'll be flying in for sure and most likely riding with Adam in his C7 Shocked

July is good for me (Aug will work also), the earlier it is the longer the daylight lasts. I sure Ebo will agree that Ebofest does not have to co-inside with "Vettes at the Beach", we can get together anytime.
Thank you guys for taking on the planning for this,
Dave

Thanks Cindy and Dave - that's two more for July. I'm trying to stay away from the original Ebofest dates, but we'll use them as alternatives if we have any lodging or other scheduling issues.

My wife and I are heading down the coast for about a month to extend this year's sunshine as long as we can. We're planning to be back the second week of Oct. I'll try my best to get on-line during that time but there are a few areas of the Oregon and N. Cal coast where coverage is iffy.

I hope to have clear direction on the date of the gathering by our return and we will begin searching for lodging options and looking at possible events.

Thanks again !!

All dates work for me and I will be there. But for voting reasons I'll go with August as I can stretch out the trip so that I spend time in Yellowstone and Grand Teton in September.

I'll hit one on the way out and the other on the way back!
I'm finalizing plans to be in Phoenix Jan-Feb. We'll have to met in Sedona and watch Vettes pass by on Main street!

Let me know when. I might have the vette stored in Phoenix at that time. I may go visit my daughter in HI for a bit during that time. All my dates are fluid!

We'll have to do a ride On 60 to the Salt River.

Well, I just pinged my brother in law for help with the place.  He's lived in Tacoma for I think about 20 years now so I'm hoping that he might have some insights.  I told him we're looking for a mid-level Best Western or La Quinta-ish type of place that has good, safe parking and is in a decent neighborhood.  Sound about right?

May I suggest a slight change for next years gathering? Instead of the usual breakfast offering at the hotel, let's look for one that has a kitchen.  Adam and his son could cook breakfast for us. It would be a couple of great lessons for his son. One, how to take on the responsibility for caring for a large group of people and two, why he should never do it again.

Put it to a vote?

The best way to set it up is just dive in and hope for the best, you can't keep every one happy. I pick the Ausgust date but July is ok.

Can we decide on either July or August? Either works for me.
I need to make plans for visiting my sisters, nieces and nephews out west.
And I need to make reservations for Cape Cod soon.Question

It seems like July is preferred by the vast majority.  John and I are still working on hotels (he has been gone for the last month or so) - perhaps we can focus on July as the primary choice in our negotiations with the hotels?  Is there any further debate about the date?

Hauling? With air and power and gas mileage?  Make sure you get it off the trailer at the nightly stops.

Yeah, not to get off topic, but I can't see with my back issues and Michele's hip sitting in that tiny little cockpit for 3 days out and 3 day back. So we opted for total comfort this trip.

Hey guys, back in town and back on the web. Had a great trip but glad to be home. Thanks for the feedback and we'll go with option #1 - July 13th to the 17th. Just read Dave's post on the Tacoma hotels (thanks Dave) and I want to get some prices from a couple of places here in Gig Harbor. Just across the bridge from Tacoma but a lot less traffic and I would feel much better with a bunch of Corvettes parked over here. I'll post further info as soon as I get it, but consider the date set !!!

Hey that bridge from Tacoma to Gig Harbor. Didn't they have a problem with that a few years ago? Is it OK now? Sure wouldn't want to see my Vette in the water.Unhappy

Pretty awesome video, sadly there was one fatality. A dog in the last car on the bridge that was too frightened and refused to get out before the owner ran for safety.

Galloping Gertie was replaced in 1950 by what the locals call Sturdy Gertie which still stands today. Reconstruction was delayed 5 years by steel needed for WWII. Back then Gig Harbor was a fishing village and most folks had a boat.

Another bridge was built right beside Sturdy Gertie and opened in 2007, that bridge is mostly referred to as "crap that thing cost way too much". No toll going from Tacoma to Gig Harbor but I think its up to $6.00 per car to get back across unless you want to burn $20 worth of gas to get back around the peninsula to Olympia. With the second bridge we have four lanes going across each way and they are full !! Back before the 2007 bridge, there were two very narrow lanes in each direction going across the single bridge with no divider of any kind. Many bad accidents over the years.

Windy conditions are the only threat to traffic now and you may want to stay in the center two lanes of the old bridge if anyone in the car has a fear of heights.
