I was wondering if any of you out there have built a C3 of any year for drag racing?  I am looking at building one and am curious as to who you may have bought your rollbar/rollcage from and how difficult it was to install. Or did anyone just take it to a chassis shop to have done.  I have found a good buy on a gutted, running C3 and our local track is reopening after being closed for 3 years.

At what point do they require a roll cage? You're talking some serious drag racing aren't you. Cool
You could ask around at the track, but then you would have to wait till it opens. Check if any drag strips in the area (Cecil County, Atco) have a forum on thier web sites, our track does (Island Dragway in NW Jersey).
Good luck & enjoy,
Dave

Most sanctioning bodies require a roll bar/cage for anything that runs quicker than 11s. Some only require it at 10s. You need to find out from whatever track you're planning to run it.
Certain classes of bracket racing also go by NHRA class rules regarding safety issues, and mods allowed.
If you plan on doing a roll bar/cage, I would highly recommend you let a pro install it, unless you are a certified welder. This is one area you really don't want to save a few bucks on by doing it yourself.
This '72 was my last Corvette street/drag car. It ran low/mid 12s all day(30 years ago!), with nothing more than a killer engine, drag slicks, and wheelie bars. Full interior, power everything, and A/C...Adams' Apple2009-03-08 07:02:55

Thanks guys.  I guess what I was really was looking for was what manufacturer people were using.  I used to race so I am familiar with what I will need for what times the car will go. Thamks for the link.

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
Make sure to keep us posted on what you do to build that racer and what it does on the track.  Maybe run a C3 registry banner?
