Maybe someone out there can give me some advice. I would like to get more kick from my engine without going the crate motor route. Was thinking true duals with twin cats, headers, cam, roller rockers, tweaking out the old rochester etc. Live in a tight a-- smog state,Arizona,so would need to pass emissions/inspection.Any ideas?? Part numbers/suppliers would help. Thanks

Is the motor in good shape now? If so, I would add one thing to your list. I would have the heads gone through fairly thoroughly. The L-82 heads make good power when they are cleaned up. Check with your local exhaust shop about the twin cat idea. In Colorado it is illegal for our shops to modify the exhuast system in this way. It has to appear the way the factory designed it. However, not is all lost. Install a high performance monolithic cat. They flow very well and meet the letter of the law. Check with your local shop about these. They can fill in where my knowledge lacks. (Caution: Find a reputable shop that does custom work and has a good reputation. DO NOT GO TO MIDAS OR SIMILAR as these guys are mostly R&R guys and don't have the faintest idea about performance in general.)
Have fun

a not often thought of performance upgrade is 1.6 or 1.65 ratio rocker arms. it's like installing a larger cam without all the work. when it comes time for emission inspection you can always slip the stock 1.5 rockers in to pass and then change em back for the rest of the year.. i did this years ago when i lived in NJ with my 427 nova.
