I am looking at buying an 82'. The only funky thing is that it has rear window louvers. They are painted to match the body color. Did Chevrolet offer these or are they aftermarket? I also wonder how heavy they are and if they will keep the rear window from staying up when opened?
Thanks, Tom

Definitely aftermarket stuff....
Unless this is a Collector Edition, the rear glass doesn't open. If it is a Collector, then I would suggest removing the louvers... the hinges for that glass are flimsy to start with, and I would expect any additional weight to add to the already overweighted glass, and the attachment. They're prolly not that heavy, depending on what they are made of...steel, or aluminuminum...

Thanks. I was under the impression that all 82's had the hatchback. I have to upgrade my membership as soon as I get another Corvette. That will be as soon as the insurance company comes to their senses about what my car was worth before I killed it. Tom

Nope, Joel is right as usual. The collector edition is the only 82 with an opening rear window, sure wish my 82 had one but I understand they do have leak problems, usually from sprung hinges.

The CE is the only C3 with an opening rear hatch. One year only and unique to the CE.

Mike, if those funky louvers are "Cragar" I would like to take them off your hands.

Cragar were fins that wraped all the way across in the same direction for each row.
