I'm thinking about selling my 1974 454 Vette and buying a 2003 Vette that I have my eye on. Love my 74, but want to cruise further out with my wife with a few more creature comforts. The one I'm looking at is an LS1. Would that be a good move? Thanks for any info.

I had an '04, the same car as the '03 you are looking at. I can tell you, there is no comparison between the two. My '04 got 30 mpg, cruised at 80mph at less than 2000 rpm, and was reliable as the sun. The interior in the C5s is terrible, and plastic pieces fall off at an alarming rate. However, if you wish to jump in it and drive 500 miles in a day, it won't let you down and you won't feel like you spent 10 rounds with Rocky Balboa when you get out of it.
Then again, there is nothing like an old car.
Sure you can't keep both?

I understand how you feel. When I rebuilt the front end of my 81 I swapped out all the original stuff and went with a more comfy ride. Turns out even the more comfy ride handles better than original with technology that was updated by 30 yrs. I have owned a few 1st generation Camaros that were a blast to drive but I couldn't imagine putting serious miles on them with my back and old joints. I say do what makes you feel happy. I know for a fact that you'd be very happy selling your vette to me for a very cheap price!

I have mixed emotions about the whole thing. Wish I could have both but I can't afford to. The old cars are really cool and they really turn heads. Whatever I do I want to enjoy it. Thanks very much for the input.

Really wish I could own two Vettes. Can't afford both. Besides wouldn't have room anyway. There is always something to repair on the 74 but may keep it just because its a cool car. Thanks
