June 24, 2005 Is 5th Annual
"Drive Your Corvette To Work Day"

Celebrating The Enjoyment of America's Sports Car
Friday, June 24th, is the 5th Annual Drive Your Corvette To Work Day, sponsored by Mid America Motorworks. In honor of Drive Your Corvette To Work Day, enthusiasts across the United States will make "America's Sports Car" their commuter car for the day.

"Drive Your Corvette To Work Day is on the Friday closest to June 30th, the birthday of the Corvette. We want every Corvette owner to drive his or her car on June 24th because it is the perfect way to say 'Happy Birthday' to America's sports car," said Mike Yager, founder and "Chief Cheerleader" of Mid America Motorworks, the world's leading supplier of Corvette parts and accessories.

Mid America Motorworks promotes Drive Your Corvette To Work Day among Corvette owners and clubs. The goal is to have as many Corvette owners as possible drive their car to work that day. Launched in 2001, Mid America Motorworks' Drive Your Corvette To Work Day is an annual event celebrated by thousands of Corvette owners.

"We understand why many owners consider their Corvette to be a special car and only drive it occasionally," said Yager. "But we think driving your Corvette to work, at least one day a year, is an excellent way to demonstrate just how popular Corvettes are. And it is a chance for Corvette owners to meet new Corvette owners."

Corvette owners who observe "Drive Your Corvette To Work Day" are encouraged to send high resolution digital pictures of their car at work to
clubs@mamotorworks.com. Mid America Motorworks will post as many pictures as possible on their website.

I'll be doing more than that. I am only going to work four hours that day (if I don't have a funeral to go to) and then it is home to cleaner up, convince the wife to hurry up, and off to Tigard oregon for the 3rd annual corvette BBQ, friday is hosted by HOOTER GIRLS, I am going to see about a pic with a group of them in my vette, maybe wife will understand, after all it's for the BOYS honey...  I'll keep you all up to date. Larry

Vette(s): 1981 - 59 Beige over Cinnebar leather. Edlebrock top end, 2200 stall w/shift kit, 3:55s, Mufflex maniback exhaust, nice stereo, 16 in AREs w/BFGs
I work for Chubb Insurance.  Us collector guys know them as Grundy.  Almost every Friday in the summer theres a lot of cool cars coming to work.  The best car is a #1 1965 GTO Hardtop red over black.  A few Vettes of all years, the nicest MGB, a 70s RUF Porsche real deal and some late 60s early 70s Cutlass type stuff.  Suprisingly theres no Japanese buzz bomb stuff.  The crew here (all 1500 of us) seem to be all north of 35..

Vette(s): 1981, Black/Black, Engine bumped to about 400HP.Ext/int mostly stock.

I'd love to drive my vette to work on Friday, but wouldn't all of guys who have collector insurance be voiding our policies by doing so?  I hate the restriction, but the collector insurance is saving me $400/year, so I deal with it...

Hope to see a lot of Vettes out Friday!

Just call it a Corvette event, don't park next to a beater, be extra careful driving there and back and you should be fine.

Unfortunately, I have to work in Chicago on Friday so driving the 733 miles there from NYC probably isn't going to happen.  However, I will keep my eyes out for all those hot Vette's out there!
