My name is Mike Smith and I am the president of just toys ltd in orlando florida. I have a potential client that has a 65 vert with what she says is a 327/365 auto. I have heard both ways that they did and did not make this combo. I have been trying to do a little research, but I could use a little help on this one. I thank all replies in advance.

, I think that in 1963 the 327C.I. came with 250 hp, 300hp, and 340 hp versons, and with 360 hp it's injected. in 1964 the 327 C.I. went to 365 hp and 375 hp for the Fuelie and then mid 1965 the 396 BB arrived with 425HP. When the BB came out the 375 HP Fuelie went away or so they say..So the answer is it was still avalible in 1965..Yes for the engine, I'm not sure about the tranmission,??..Terry

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
The L76 engine available in 1965 was infact a 327/365hp. The suffix code is "HH"

According to the Corvette Black Book, in '65 there were four suffix codes for 327 engine blocks with automatic transmissions...HO, HP, HQ and HR. They all go to either 250 or 300 horsepower engines, with or without a/c.
If that information is correct, then any 365 or 375 horse engine should only be a 4-speed from the factory. We've learned to never say never when it comes to Corvettes as they came from the factory, but it doesn't seem likely in your case. Of course, some cars were factory specials for GM bigwigs so anything is possible.
Look at the engine and see what suffix is on the block and if the block numbers match the VIN. That can help a lot. See if the transmission itself is numbered to the car's VIN as well.
Short of finding the production order intact in the car, it will be difficult to prove the car is original.

The slip-n-slide trans was not offered for the higher HP engines. It just wouldn't hold up to them at the time.
The automatic was only available for the 250 and 300 HP 327 engines in '65.

Fellas thanks for all the help in this matter. I had to go out and buy a new black book tonight as I has loaned one out and the aliens must have taken it b/c I never got it back and that is the info that I found out. Thanks again for the help.
