I've been offered a 91 c-4 and some cash for my Harley.I know nothing about the c-4s. What kind of issues would I be faced with on a 92,000 mile car? It's a 6 speed and the A.C. compressor is bad. I'd kind of like to have the car, it looks pretty good, doesn't seem to have been abused and I wouldn't mind having a daily driver. |headscratch|

they are very fun cars. Excelent daily drivers in good condition the car is worth between 7-12k. Depending on condition and the AC compressor is an easy fix but, its probably around an $800 job. you could do it yourself though. As long as the system is empty already.

I agree they are fun cars... they are stylistically deficient but by the early 90's most of the bugs were worked out and the power was respectable.

it will never get the attention that your c3 does...

but now that every third person and their fifth cousin twice removed has a harley the bike probably wont get as much attention as the c3 either..

Id take the vette but im a coward on 2 wheels so lets call this my .01

C4's are technically superior to C3's, but I find them far more difficult to get in and out of, and are generally much more expensive to repair should they need it...far more electronics and sophisticated systems. A buddy of mine has a '92 LT1 (which is a different animal), and within the last year has dumped a ton of repair dollars into it, and still isn't done. He's the original owner, so the car hasn't been abused, and only has about 50K miles on it. As I said though, the LT1 is a different breed, and a more expensive engine to repair anyway.

Check the car out thoroughly and ask for the repair records. If the car is right, you will enjoy it.

Am I missing something here, but you said 6 speed! I thought the 6 speed only camed on limited lt4 models? |headscratch| or the ZR1's? Can someone clue me in. If this is what you are being offered then you might be getting a better deal.

If your into having a V-twin bike I know you can get a Yamaha Roadstar Warrior for half of what a Harley would cost. Of course it wouldn't be an american bike, but they look really good.

I think the six speed was first available in 1989. Also, it was not lt4 or zr1 specific.

Thanks for the input guys! I guess I just need to get time to check the car out and come to a final price agreement with the current owner. I've found that values on these cars really vary!

Not limited to LT4/ZR1's
A friend of mine has a '93 40th Annv. w/LT1 and a 6 spd.

The LT4 was a 1 yr. only engine offered in the '96 Grand Sport and Collectors Edition vettes, and was also extended into all 6 spd manual vettes.
