Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

I found this article with a Google News preference for stories about topic "Corvette."

I'm puzzled and skeptical about the comment the writer had saying there were "200 53 1/2 and an additional early '54's" Really? I've never heard 53 1/2 applied to Corvettes, and never heard about "early '54's. I've always only heard that there were 300 1953 models made.
Is this guy misinformed, or is there some truth to his words?

There were 315 production Corvettes built in 1953. 300 were the actual '53 model cars built in Flint. The other 15 were '54 model cars built in St. Louis. So yeah...the article is incorrect. Don't know where the 200 number came from...the lore gets muddled as mis-informed folks spread the incorrect info thru the years...much like the old wives tale of the first Corvettes failing to start because no-one thought about the 'glass bodies not being good grounds. That's always been my favorite.
