I inspected a 66 coupe today. It is a non original engine car, currently has a 350 4-bolt out of a 75 Chevy truck. It has a M20 Muncie that is original to the car. The frame is good but the trailing arms have "bubba-rigged" shims installed. They need immediate attention.

The body is solid except for glass damage on the front valance and RH blinker housing, The paint is presentable but has some bubbles. It is a twenty-footer. The windshield frame looks good. The interior is decent and it has Vintage Air A/C, currently missing the compressor and the hoses have been left uncapped. All the window glass is in good shape.

The engine cranks and the cars runs, but poorly. The car has been stored for six years. I am thinking they cranked it with bad gas and the system is contaminated. The transmission shifts well and the clutch feels solid. The brake calipers look to have been replaced recently.

I spent two hours looking the car over. I am pretty confident it can make a great car with some TLC.

I won't reveal what I intend to bid but I would like your opinion. The car is a good driver, as is, once the fuel system has been decontaminated. What do you guys think. What would you be willing to pay for the car.

Scott

steering box & linkage ? brakes and brake lines ? master cylinder ? carb & ignition ?  sounds like it is going to need some work and additional investment. 20 to 25 sounds like a start ... depending on his perspective... he may be looking for more. I've seen some real junk go in this price range because it is a 66 or 67. Being NOM and in need of work, 25 may take it.

you can also chk prior c2 sales and opinions over in corvette forum (C1 C2)

Good Luck in your quest. There are a lot of C2's out there so be patient. Also 64 is the best value for price right now in C2.

Thanks Clint. I have looked at some real junk that was priced in the high 20s. This car would be an excellent buy at 20. I don't think I would go 25K. I have looked at dozens of C2s over the last 24 months. This one needs a little more work than I would like but I am, after all, looking for a "driver". I don't need a trailer queen or show car. We''ll see where the price goes. Thanks for your input.

Lucky Dawg! Big%20smile  I think Tux's ballpark prices listed above would be a fair price (I hate to admit that he's rightLOL).  If it all works out and you get the car, later on down the road you might be able to find an engine that could actually have gone in that car. Wink  I hope I said that right.....Confused

I'd agree with Tux.
Offer him $20K.

May be the one Scott. I know you've been wanting one for a long time. How does the gas look, smell? Your probably right. Maybe only reason it runs bad. 20K I think would be a good start. Keep us posted.
