Got this friend that has an '89 RED C4. When it rains real hard, water gets into his gas tank.
This is when it's just sitting outside in the rain, not while driving......weird, huh?
Does anyone know why this would happen.
Thanks in advance.

The gas cap....the drain for the filler area is stopped up. When it fills with water, the water will seep down thru the gas cap, and into the tank.
Happened on Mama's '85. That's why it always has a cover on it...it keeps crap from getting in there to stop the drain up.
This will happen on the Shark cars, too, but the gas caps on the earlier, non-unleaded cars seal a lot better.
If you don't get the water out, it will screw up the fuel pump(electric, in-tank), the filter, AND the injectors...

Joels right on it here. One thing your friend might do is take an air hose and blow out the drain. That should push that spider out the end and allow the water to flow again....
Other than that I agree with Dave! What the He!! is he lettin a Vette sit out in the rain for? You need to straighten him out Micki!
