Jim, look for damage to the wiring harness below the battery...a really sore point on these cars. If the electrolyte seeps out, it runs down the harness, and eats at the wires, AND the vacuum hoses that are in the loom.
The computers(the important ones) are in the pass side floorboard, under the carpet. They have issues with water damage from leaks, and spills...not to mention tantrum throwing passengers!

Look under the front for curb rash...I'd be surprised if there was none there.
With that many miles, I'd be axing about the service records. It may be ready for bearings front and rear($$$), and shocks(active=arm&leg)/bushings.
Take a look at the rear composite spring. You don't want to see ANY kind of damage...a small scratch will cause failure on them. I can't think of a C5 I've worked on yet that didn't have a rear spring that was messed up in some way.

That's a really low price for a 2000 car, even with the high miles. It is a great color combo, tho.

Jim I can't think of anything that Joel hasn't covered. I would want to definately seek out some type of service records if available. These are expensive cars to do repairs on.

It sounds like some mods have been done but very minor. It also sounds like a good driver car with that kind of miles on it.(It wasn't setting still much.)

17K is pretty low for the car and I would hope that it would give you 30-40 K miles yet before you begin visiting the repair shop regularly.

Vette(s): 2004 Commemorative Edition Coupe, Auto w/HUD. 13K miles in 2015. Sold 1982 Red Coupe

When you need to replace those front tires they will be expensive.

Sounds like normal wear on the interior from all the miles.

For the price, it sounds like it would make a good daily, providing it was well maintained; oil changes, tranny, radiator flushing, etc.

Sounds like a great price as is, not a trailer queen for sure - and that's good. If original owner, even better. Don't sweat the tires, you have many more options with C5s over our C3s. I put a new a set of Bridgestone 40K mile Potenzas (non run flats) on my C5 in the spring for less $1k.

Negotiate based on needing tires, service of transmission, rear end, etc.

Get it up in the air and check it out, but don't be all upset when you see all the scratches under the nose and maybe along the rocker panels. These would be normal on a C5 that has been driven. (mine looks great on the ground - but not so much on a lift up close)

They are great cars for sure - you will love the C5.
