Looking for some humorous input here. If you attend your local city car shows, do you attend classic car shows or only corvette exclusive car shows? This past weekend I attended a classic car show in upper lower Michigan. There were about 75 cars. They had two categories for corvettes, stock and modified. One corvette entry was a 1977 which had the rear and front end caps from an 1982 installed. The owner listed the car as stock. I thought it should have been the modified category. Anyway, there were four vettes entered including mine. A stock 1964 red convertible won the stock division. A 1977 won modified. The only thing modified I think was the driver, although the car had a set of Crager Wheels. I used this event to drive the car, not that I needed one and the weather was perfect. The only bad part was the scheduled cruise through the town the day before the show. I was following behind a 1969 Chevelle SS. As we were going along the desiganted route, this a..hole decided to lay rubber, not once but three times. I laid back and no rocks hit my car. Finally, the fourth time a pebble bounced off of my windshield. I immediately paid him a visit and pulled along side his car. Spouting and showing my southern hospitality, I told him to can the power demonstration. What a jerk!
Final note, I probably passed 15 vettes on the way to the show, different generations, etc. Guess which drivers "save the way"? Only the C-3 owners. Go Figure!

because the c-5 is not a car for corvette enthusiasts...
maybe in 10 years when they all need work and John Q Public doesnt own them anymore because they are no longer trendy.. the wave might find its way to the c-5

We get that down here alot. They go out of their way not to acknowledge and pay homage to a classic. There's usually a professional type behind the wheel that's not used to being "upstaged", so to speak. I laugh to myself, comes from knowing I'm "getting their goat". I shouldn't include everyone driving a C5, though.

And further more, you can't help being in awe of the technology under some of these hoods today, but there's something kinda wonderful about the raw, primitive power our normally-aspirated beasts deliver. So there, I just vented (all over their shoes).

I really enjoy attending cruise nights (there's one every night except Sunday in my area). It's always interesting to talk with some of the car owners. The last show I was in got a little frustrating. There were 3 trophies for 68 and newer Vettes, and only 4 Vettes in the category. 1st went to a beautiful 71 convertible, certainly deserved it. 2nd place went to an equally clean 73 (one of my favorite years). So now it was my 75 or a 2002 blue convertible. This guy looks like maybe he was just driving by and decided to enter it. The car was dirty inside and out (no, not dirty, filthy) Had candy wrappers and trash laying around the interior, the engine was even filthy, looks like he has never even wiped it down. Guess who took 3rd? Sorry to seem like I'm venting (well I am venting). These car shows are way too political if they are owner's choice. Seems like you can show up with just about anything, and if you have enough owner friends you stand a very good chance of winning. I think I'll just stick to cruise nights, they are a lot more fun.
I with you on that one Steve. Cruise nights are alot more fun. Alot of chatting with some great and freindly people and lots of neat cars of all sorts. Plus attendence is much higher from the non-car knowlegeable people. Those people are fun to impress. Less stress on how perfect your car is.

I do both cruise-in's and shows. The thing with the shows is I don't take them seriously at all. I go to see the cars, not win trophies. People like looking at my Vette, and that's a good feeling, but I don't need an award to tell me it's a cool car. There are couple of shows that I am going to in September...one gets 800 cars (no trophies at this one - it's just about a cool day with other car people) and the other 3000 cars. I'm also hitting an all generation Vette show next month with a bunch of awards to be given out, but I'm only going so I can check out a ton of SoCal Vettes. I am more than willing to pay the entry fees for the simple reason that I'll get a killer parking space around other classics.

My Vettes are drivers. I much prefer to drive them then put them in shows. And if they do end up in a show it will usually be a non-judged show.
Here's a special
to all my C3 friends. And if you see me in my C5, don't be too surprised when I
.
