Vette(s): 74 coupe 4 speed 350, 54K actual miles, all original; paint, interior, engine, split bumper. #'s match. 2nd owner, no stress cracks.
And Gals too.  I have been looking for a set of kick panels for my 74.  Well a fellow car guy, is sending me a set just for the cost of the postage and is even trusting me to mail him back the postage he paid.

Anyway, he (joechamp) wrote:

I really appreciated what he had done, and got me to thinking...Shocked

Has anybody else had any similar experience and wanted to share it with the rest of us?  Thanks

Vette(s): White '79 Corvette. It's a driver.
Yes! Definitely!

When I got mine it had been sitting in a barn for a few years. Right above where it was parked was a beam where a group of pidgeons stood and pooped all day and apparently all night long. So, there was a bad stain on the tops & just in front of the rear window. (White Paint Shows EVERYTHING!)

I brought it to an acquaintance who had a few Vettes and also painted them. (He had a waiting list).
I was prepared to have to get it repainted but he buffed it out to the point where I can't tell where that stain was.

That guy saved me some big $$$ right off the bat. He joked with me saying that if I'd brought him a MUSTANG it would have needed a repaint.Wink

I've had many dealings with members of this forum and have met some caring people in the process. I know we are all at our best here, but I feel closer to our members than I do to my neighbors in my small town.

When I bought mine, it needed a new parking brake cable. A Corvette friend GAVE me one he had that he planned to sell on e-Bay. Plus some other parts he thought I could use.

A friend on this site gave me some extra parts he no longer needed when he swapped engines.

A neighbor, who used to have Corvettes, gave me a Battery Tender, old catologs and some parts.

Another friend gave me a subscription to Car & Driver.

And I have returned the favor to other Corvette owners.

Let's face it, most of us are GOOD PEOPLE.Clap

The guy I got my Vette from sent me the right side A/C duct he found in his garage and a couple of reciepts. At a cruise-in a Vette guy told me how to adjust the backs of the stock seat backs up a little forward and there is the guy at GM Toys in Portland that put a door hinge spring in for $20. Corvette parts catalogs that are sent to you free are great! And all you guys are always there for the many questions. People here like Todd (767REP) has offered to help me out if I need it with future projects (interior stuff). It's a wonderful world of Vette people!Big%20smile

A lot of the C3VR members swap/give/donate parts and stuff back and forth all the time. I have received and sent plenty of Corvette stuff to our family members...it's what we do.
A few days before the '08 Gathering, one of the members of our local club gave us the front license plate cover for the '85. He had it laying around, and figured we could use it. Good thing is, it's the same color!
There are a lot of nice folks out there...this kind of thing goes on every day. We sometimes forget to thank those who do help us. Tux likes to call it "Paying it forward"...
So, to of ya'll , GOOD JOB, and THANKS!

It never ceases to amaze me the response I have received when I'm in need, whether it be parts, support, or just someone to talk to and laugh with. As of late our good friend StingrayJim called me about a Vette issue I've been having. And in the process I have made another good friend through our (sometimes very long) phone conversations. I have family here, some I talk to almost on a daily basis. I really don't care to do that with some of my blood relatives.Wits%20End  I do belong to a club her in Mich., and we help each other out, but its you guy's I turn to first.

So  thanks to Adam, thanks to C3VR. I think I'll keep commin back..........Hug

I haven't been in the Vette world long and I'm overwhelmed by the generosity.  In fact, Joel was one of the first Corvette guys I met when he invited my brother and I to meet him at the NCRS event in Waco and have lunch with him.  The first local car show we took ours to this spring, we met Elio, who isn't on this list, with a customized 72.  Roger needed one of the ignition shields for his and I needed an a/c condensor, dryer and hoses.  Elio had removed all that original stuff from his 72 and he gave us all of it for $100, plus a bunch of other odds and ends he said he didn't need.  I hope that I can be that generous someday, but in the meantime, I'll try to pass it on in the form of posting something useful once in a while, or if anyone local needs an extra hand removing a hood or such.
