There must be a lot that have crashed. I know of 3 kids that were given corvettes and with in a month had totaled them. I remember thinking
about the last one driving home the first weekend - "he won't make it
out of the town he lives in", and sure enough, he didn't. I found mine
siting out in a field in Plymouth, MA. There is a black 81 (no engine) sitting in a field near by. Who knows how many are just
sitting out in the elements around the world? When I kept mine off the
road during the winter, I kept the registration and insurance active. I
bet that is what most do. I know of four sitting outside just rusting
away and two that "someone will get around to fixing" soon.

Nobody ever waves when I'm driving the Explorer.

There are hundreds, if not more, Corvettes just sitting somewhere, rotting...
I know of one '63 coupe, possibly a Z06, that has been sitting in the middle of a field back home for over 35 years(that I know of). The car does not belong to the person that owns the property, and he knows nothing about it other than he made a promise the the guy he bought the land from that he would not sell it. I can tell you, the guy WILL shoot at you if you try to crawl over the barbed wire fence to have a closer look...I know this from personal experience.
I know of many that were wrecked, and never fixed....

Yea, I've seen the Peter Max collection. He bought it from the guy that won the VH1 contest back in the 80's, I know, I entered the contest hundreds of time. The winning individual supposedly only entered ONE time. With cars like that, or collections, that remain in the abyss of someone's warehouse/garage/collection, that is not registered, then those numbers will never be available for adding to the counting of existing Corvettes. I would be one the first to volunteer to "rescue' such collections when allowed to be, for I drop to my knees when I see such icons sadly being wasted.

Larry thats the one!!! actually go past Daves to where the link that he gives the pass word to is....and yes the pass word still works.
Great job Larry
Nasa Jack add these sad babys to the list.....I can hear them crying out....

I partly blame the waste of some Corvettes on the auctions we see nowadays on TV...because there are a few Bubbas' out there that think they have $150,000 cars sitting out back somehwere hidden...waiting for the big money to show up at his place to buy the rare ones...knowing that he (Bubba) had no intention of restoring the car because he didn't have the money in the first place! All it takes is one '67 big block to be seen selling for $200,000 and everyone thinks they have the same kind of '67. I've seen it happen and I know people who think that way. Those are the kind of cars that will never be 'counted' as well.
My apologies for the rant, but its my .02 worth!
