Well I had a bad experience with Franklin Mint. When the 50th Anniversary Corvette convertible model was offered I promptly placed my order. A few weeks later I got a notice that my convertible will be sent to me by Oct. I figure...ok cool, I can wait. I the mean time, time passes and a couple more notices came reguarding my model with the word Coupe that I didn't notice."Nice switch eh." Well the car comes and to my surprize it's the Coupe model. I called and complained and they basically said that I'm S.O.L and told me that my order was for the Coupe. I didn't even have the info on the Coupe until after I ordered the convertible. I asked this woman who spoke crappy English "what gives!" Nothing makes sense! I figure my model probably was sold on Ebay for an elevated price by one of their own employees. So if you order anything from Franklin Mint thats a limited run...keep a close eye on all notices, etc. from them.

Same kind of happened to me. I placed my order for the convertible, but got a letter afterwards telling me the convertible was sold out and I would be receiving the coupe instead. It would have been nice to know beforehand, but oh well, at least the coupe came. I also ordered the limited run blue over white '67 427/435 convertible which arrived on Friday and the yellow Z06 which doesn't get shipped until December.

Hello All,
The 50th anniversary convertibles were sold out even before the advertisements went out to the general puyblic for them so the Mint offered coupes (which were made after the convertibles)in place of them. According to a reliable source I have at the Mint, a very large number of the convertible models were bought by a dealer to give away with real car purchases. Also, it's my understanding that the coupes are also sold out and they have a waiting list started in case anyone returns either model.
I have a limited number of each of these and some other sold out limited edition Corvettes and other models. If anyone is interested, please feel free to email me directly.

Thanks for the info George!
All in all, that was a pretty cruddy move on Franklin Mints part. I think that they should have never put the ad out to the public if they already had dealers in mind first. But I guess thats part of the "American way" of doing business. They did knock off $15. after throwing a temper tantrum on the phone. yeah....
Thanks again for clearing up this "mystery" and for allowing me to "vent."
