Topic: Last "Original" ZO6 Sold!

It was a sad day indeed, yesterday.

The LAST, original owner, NON-restored, '63 ZO6 was sold!

My good friend, Tom, bought this car in '63, and has enjoyed it all this time. He had been making feeble attempts to sell for a year or so, and someone finally came up with enough $$$ to snatch it from Tom's death-grip!
Of the 199 ZO6s sold in 1963, there were only 2 known, unrestored cars left. Tom's was the only one of those two that was still in the possesion of the original owner. And now there are none.

Some of you may have seen Tom's ZO6 on the cover of, and inside the June, 2002 issue of VETTE magazine. Tom had a going away "wake" yesterday for his baby...
I can still hear the wails....

(We didn't ax how much he sold it for out of respect, but, I'm thinking it had to be in the $200,000-$250,000 range.)

WOW... I think he should of gotten more but we'll go with that range as you put it.
I do know another man but not the first owner, that did own an all original Red '63 Z06 (that didn't have that white stripe ) except that he replaced the rear axle and kept the original axle. He goes with it to Carlisle and gets picked for the Celebirty show all the time. He sold it and still has another Midnight Blue '63.
Those are really nice vettes.

I have many pics of this car at the local car shows, and NCRS events. Tom is also the president of our local Corvette Club(Corvette Legends of Texas) One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
I still feel like someone in the family has gone...

Here's the latest Club photo...Tom's ZO6 is really hidden, but you can see it, if you look real hard!!

(you might even be able to pick my two out in there!)

For others, it is their classic Corvette.

I think the reality of the value of this car finally set in for Tom. When we first met('97), it was appraised at $150,000. Since then, the value has skyrocketed. Normal values for a ZO6 are 200% over what a normal fuelie '63 is worth.

But then again, he may have sold it so his boys wouldn't get it!!!
