Topic: Market Value: of a 35th anniv Vette ?
in Forum: All Vettes Discussion

Just looked at one of these cars locally and it looks good real good...BUT the asking price is well below
what I figured they would be worth....10 grand was listed in Dec 2008 issue of Vette for a car n need of tender loving care and this one is not in need of much love...
I already committed to buying the car pending inspection which is not reqired in Maryland for a car 22-23 years old BUT the seller agreed to have it inspected
Thanks Bob Griffiths .

I personally believe the people that come up with these values sometimes need a whack in the side of the head to remind them about the recession we are in. Numbers sound good but try to sell if you have one.
I can scan and email the article if interested.

What number is it, or do you know?
The one thing you might have problems with, as far as replacement parts, is the interior stuff, especially the steering wheel, if it needs replacing/recovering. Seat covers might get a bit expensive, too...
Other than that, and the emblems, the rest of the car is the same as all the other '88s.

PLEASE post a pic if ya can! And...don't forget to sign up at C4VR, too!
Oh...what kind of miles are on it?

THANK you...
For what it is worth the interior is in really good shape... the steering wheel does however show its age... but other then that I was very impressed by the cars condition...
If I "ranked" the car as being average then I.m stealing it..heck I'm stealing it if I ranked it as needing tender loving care I;m still stealing it...
Carfax shows no issues and I'm buying it from the 2nd owner ... Milage is NOT low... (102,000).. but it looks like (from the carfax) the car was a daily driver for the first 6 years of its life (54004 miles in by 1994...about 9000 a year)...when the present buyer purchased it ... since then the car has averaged about 3000 miles a year and has been garage kept... it drives fine everything works and it looks goood with good tires etc... worst thing is that the under hood area (not the engine) is in need of a cleaning
Like I said I am ALREADY committed to buy the car.... BUT the price was so low I was worried ..the good thing is he has maintenance records all of which were done by the Local Chevy dealer on a regular basis (which is NOT where I would have taken the car to)
Bob G...
I have no idea of how to post a picture ...got some I could e-mail anyone if they would like to see a few taken this last summer e-mail me at Rg327@comcast.net if you would like to see them

Barry:
Doing much better the feeling in my lower legs is slowly returning ...I can now tell I am standing on a cold floor in my bare feet...BUT it is still a lot of brain work involved in driving my cars (I have to think then double check that I have my foot on the clutch (or brake) which honestly makes driving the cars a heck of a lot less enjoyable... the gas pedal has never been a problem with me...LOL
Major reason that I jumped on this 35th edition car is because it is an automatic.... just pick up my foot and move it "somewhere" to the left and I can't miss the brake ... Have two projects this winter (complete brake job on the 79 and replace the clutch in my 72... neither car left the garage in 2010 which really bugged me But I was just not up to doign any work on them the last 2 years
Anyway I'm hopeful that by summer I will be driving ALL the cars "safely"...and without taxing my brain
BTW...I took my 76 to that car show But did win a thing EXCEPT a $50.00 Gift Certificate from a darn good (and expensive) restaurant as a door prize ...that cost me an additional 60 some bucks to pay for 2 dinners ...wife was happy...lol
Come on Up this summer
