My dad gave me a 80 vette it needs work. How much money would you spend fixing it up? 30% of the car is not original. I know so far I am ahead because it is a gift. So far work needed..........Windshield frame, windshield, carpet, seats, door motors, door panels, weather-stripping, light wont let up, no horn cap and spring, small odds and ends, leak in left rear brakes. trash or not?

it could never be trash. with the car as a gift you are way ahead. plus
restoring it wont be as much as the car would be worth when you are
done...not only monetarily but the satisfaction of you doing it.

You describe several thousands of dollars worth of work. If you are
keeping the car, that's no big deal. I wouldn't buy it with the intent
of selling it for profit. You will inevitably run into more problems
with the windshield frame. Paint alone wil be $5000.00 or more.

Fix the mechanical stuff then worry about the cosmetics
keep it you'll be sorry if you sell it. I've saved alotta money buying some parts on eBay. And, don't worry bout the spelling, I make up words all the time online
