Last week i offered $15000 for a 2001 C-5, with 35000 miles on it.. The guy I made the offer to is someone I've done a few real estate deals with. He has been in a money crunch for the last year or so. At first he said no. I just got a call from him a few minutes ago and Tuesday I'm going to be the proud owner of a red, almost bone stock C-5. Which leads me to ask you guys a few questions.

 1. How much horsepower did this car have stock?

 2. Eventually I want to put twin turbo's on it , do I need to change the crank. rods and piston's? (1 year away)

 3. What does the compression need to be to put tubo'o on it?

 4. What upgrades to the intake and injectors would you recomend, so I can increase the horsepower  in the mean time.

 5. What can I do to the computer to increase performance/ horsepower.

Keep in mind nothing I own except the suburban has a computer in it. So all of this will be an exciting and fun , stressful adventure. The exitement is killing me, I cant wait until Tuesday.

 Thanks Andy

Congrats on th new purchase, Andy!!!Clap  Thumbs%20Up

All of the Corvette magazines are lousey with C5 articles, including blower/turbo installs. Of course, now that the C6 has been out for a while, the articles are starting to be all C6!! If you have any issues from the last year or so of Corvette Fever, or Vette mag., you'll find a ton of tech on this very subject. If you don't have any of the issues, holler, and I'll dig a few of mine up, and send ya the info. Wink

Way ta go Andy, hope ya enjoy yer "new" car. Here are some specs that should answer yer questions. This is Unlimited Power & speeds C6 Kit. They didn't have the C5 specs posted in the data I looked at but should be available if you contact them. It is a direct bolt on kit so that is a big plus. Hope this helps to answer your questions.

C6 A4 Twin Turbo, 600rwhp....                          ------------------------

This is a new kit Unllimitd Power & Speed just finished and will be marketing immediately. C5 Kits can also be done and we expect similar results. As soon as we complete one, we will post up those pics and Dyno numbers as well.

Each kit will basically be built to fit each car specifically. This was the first C6 TT rear mount kit we've done, and it took approximately 4 weeks to complete, including dyno tuning time. I would estimate that each future kit will only require approximately 2 weeks to complete.

Here are the highlights:

1. NOTHING was modified on the that cannot be returned back to factory stock easily.
2. Car retains all emissions, factory exhaust manifolds, factory cats, factory h-pipe, MAF, etc.
3. The only things that were removed were the factory air intake, mufflers, spark plugs and stock injectors.
4. This kit utilizes a pair of Limit Engineering custom built T4 Turbo's. Each Turbo will support 700fwhp, for a total of 1400fwhp. These will be an upgrade to our standard kit. The customer chose these turbo's so that he wouldn't need to upgrade after building a more "boost friendly" engine.
5. Mototron 60lb Injectors
6. Tial 44mm Wastegate, set to 9lbs
7. Hitachi Oil Scavenge Pump
8. Custom Built UPS/PTE High Flow Front Mount Intercooler
9. All Piping Thermal Coated
10. Piping DOES NOT run through rockers or rear inner fenders. Less than 1 inch of ground clearance is lost with this installation. Therefore, lowered cars can use this kit as well.
11. Choice of several styles of polished stainless exhaust tips
12. Complete Installation and Dyno Tuning Included (Sorry, but we will not be offering these in "kit" form. Only complete in-house installations.)
13. In 95 degree weather, during a 1-2-3 gear pull on the Interstate, Temps at the Intake maxed at 108 degrees. This is even with the STOCK THERMOSTAT!
14. On the dyno, an entire 3rd gear pull showed only an 8 degree rise in intake air temps.
15. Gas Mileage with A/C and the Cruise set on 70mph resulted in 23.4mpg. At 65mph, mpg increased to 24.8.
16. Coolant Temps (with stock thermostat) never got above 217 degrees after several WOT runs on the Interstate. In traffic, temps stayed between 200-210 degrees with the A/C on Max.
17. All Dyno Runs were made using Amoco 93 octane gas ONLY. Every run was logged and each log showed ZERO knock retard. (the car is equipped with an optional Alcohol Injection System, but we have yet to test it)

Final Numbers:

Engine: 100% Stock 2005 C6 A4
Boost: 9psi Peak
Rear Wheel HP: 588.2
Rear Wheel TQ: 529.0
A/F @ 6200: 11.2:1

*This would be approximately 740fwhp. I would expect an M6 car to make over 600rwhp easily with this same configuration.

Andy- Congrats on the "steal". Unless the car was in a wreak, that is a great price (for the buyer).
I hope I can be so lucky someday.

Thanks Tux, that is the kind of info I needed.  As soon as I finish here I am sending an e-mail to Mr. Raymer. A few weekends ago on Spike TV they put twin turbo's on a C-5 and produced over 600 horses on the dyno. It was probably from Unlimited Power. I didn't pay to much attention to the show because it didn't apply to my 78. Now I'll have to order the DVD.

And thank you Dwright.
As for condition, I will find out on Tuesday. I have not seen the car in over a year. At the time it was immaculate, the body was in great shape, he has upgraded the exhaust with a Borla system but other than that the car is stock. The interior was in good shape also.  It has been driven once a month over the last year and kept under a car cover in his garage. This guy is very anal about this car, no one has ever worked on the car except the dealer. The only thing I didn't like at the time was his choice in tires.
If this guy was someone I didn't  know, I would be more suspicious of the deal. I've known him for 9 years, although not a close friend, he is a business associate.  The other thing is the car wasn't for sale when I made the offer. As soon as the deal goes through I will post pics of  the new one and our others.

I was finally able to get up and see the car this afternoon. The seller and a mutual friend dropped by the office to pick me up.

The car is in excellant shape. The owner has started the car every other weekend for the last year driving the car once a month.  And it's not a 2001 it's a 2002.  These are the things you find out when going through a third party. The motor is an LS1 with a six speed.

I will see the car again on Wed. my insurance guy needs some pics. I will be sure and post them here. The deal is taking longer than I thought, due to the sellers minor legal issues. I can't wait to get under the hood.

That going to be quite a deal, and a heck of a project.   If you can achieve those HP numbers that car will FLY!
