I wanna know just why the heck every generation of Corvette now has to be labeled as "C-somethingorother"?
I know...it's stoopid, but....until the '97 cars came out, there was never any "C" label attached to Corvette...it was "Solid Axles"('53-'62),  "Mid Years["Sting Ray" is also acceptable]('63-'67), and "Sharks"('68-'82)[again,"Stingray" is also acceptable up to the '77 models]. The '84-'96 cars were called "Late Models", for lack of a better term. Then, the press releases, and all of the internal GM literature called the new '97 cars "C-5", since they say it was the 5th generation of Corvette. Otay....I can deal wid dat, but...why all of a sudden does everyone now refer to the earlier car by a "C" designation? Personally, it sounds a little silly to me. I like saying Solid axle, or Mid Year, or Shark...I can't stand saying, or hearing "C-1, C-2", or "C-3".....it jest ain't rite!Angry
Why does this bug me so much? Who knows? It jest gits on me nerves, and I ain't got many of them left.

Now...I realize that this is the "C3 Vette Registry", and that's kewl....I gots little issue wid dat, otherwise I wuddn't be here all da time. I'm jest sayin....

I'm an old timer....I doesn't like change, especially if what I had afore was werkin jest fine. So...it's still Solid Axle, Mid Year, and SHARKS for me....
Thanky bury mooch....

It that so RONG?

Ermm Now, would that be a LOAN Shark, NOT Adam!  OR, GREAT Shark, All of us.  Perhaps a Hammerhead, some of the Muscle of the group. Do we all have to paint our cars GRAY to be in the "C" Tank? Big smile

All kidding aside, I still kinda like the C? designation as a quick and easy way to tell what is what. It is clear then which is which, even though it was never meant to be the official designation. When you look at how they try to designate different eras of Camaros or Mustangs, it's a confusing method of using chassis designations (my Mustang is an SN95 or "New Edge", which to the average person means nothing and only serves to confuse others. So while you don't like it, Joel I think you can agree as a general term it is easier for the unenlightened to understand the eras. We all KNOW what our cars are, and can call them whatever we like! Just my .02!
