as in my previous post, i am having troubles with my 90. started of
with a code 42 which is the est. was suggested i change the ignition
module before i change the ecm. tried it and code was gone but the egr
stayed open when trying to pass someone. when changing module all
the plastic around wires going out of distributor were cracking. stores
said a dealer item. dealer didn't have them and got them thru ecklers.
guy in dealer said if codes changed like the did my ecm was probably
bad so i replaced it.
problem now is the car runs rough as heck when idling and super rich. figured i'd check egr valve. i couldn't believe where it is. underneath the throttle body. can't even get my finger in there to feel if it is working.
that's why i love my 75. the highest piece of technology is the electronic ignition. any other ideas on what to check would be gladly appreciated.

I know whut ya mean on the EGR valve...what a pain.
You can test the valve with a vac. pump, but I would also suggest checking the solenoid that controls the vac. to it.
If you don't have the service manual(I forget if you do or not), I can pull some testing info for ya.
Where's the EGR???

thanks joel. i have the manual and it explains how to test. only thing
is i wish some of their pics were better. also it seems to me that the
gm manual explains more on the testing than procedures that may be
needed to replace things. i remember when the manufactures manuals were
the best to use in all ways. it just doesn't make sense of why
the motor is running the way it is. hopefully i can figure it out
before i find those sticks of dynamtie i have hidden.

great pic joel. hope anyone who looks checks out the ones that follow so they can see what's on top of it.
