Saw this at Road and Track's website. Looks pretty cool in my opinion. Slightly smaller and available in Coupe and Vert |thumb|

Looks like I'll be the first to say that I don't like it. I've seen this picture before. It's too Porsche-like to me, too short, gills are too big, and what's up with the big 'ol "mouth"? It looks like's it's smiling at you...Vettes don't smile, they're supposed to look lean and mean, gobbling up the road in front of them. Airflow is great and a needed thing, but that huge opening is just too much. Exposed "euro-like" lights? Don't really like that for a Vette. C5 was looking kinda like this before the final design, and many posted the pics and later were dead wrong. For now, I don't like it at all, there's no way it looks like a Vette, not even those peaked fenders. In fact, that rough of an edge doesn't flow with the rest of the rounded edges in the design. I guess I'll just have to wait till it gets closer to the real thing, then I'll decide for sure. No offense to anyone that likes it, it's just my opinion here. Anybody got a close up of the emblems???

Vette(s): SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
Sold - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe
Put me in the middle (for now). I don't particularily like the grill or headlights, but the rest of the design (what can be seen from that view anyway) looks good to me. Anything that gets rid of the "big bubble butt" of the C5 is an improvement in my opinion.

Hidden head lamps have been a big part of the Corvette mystique for 40 years. I don't think they should be discontinued. It does look Porche-like which in my opinion is a no-no. Toooo many cars out there today look alike. The Vette has always be very distinctive ( at least till the C5s got aerodynamic looking ).
Actually, it doesn't matter what any of us think, we only buy the cars. Why should GM care, they are gonna sell them no matter what they look like.
If I had my way, ( look out---here we go ) the body would be VERY distinctive, the fenders would flare far enough outward so you would never have to worry about road debries chipping the paint, all models would have all options available and last but far from least, the return of the 427 ! Not necessarily the 752 HP monster they have shown in some of the magazines but something a little tamer and fully streetable at 89 octane which would leave a lot of room for "improvement" for the next few production years ( like the Z06 ). Chevy high performance should make the really go fast parts available from dealers like back in the old days.
Wake me up later.

Vette(s): Re-acquired 1982 Bright Blue Vette from the guy a sold it to 13 years ago. 1993 40th Anniv. Ruby Convertible- purchased for my wifes 40th birthday-It has Chromed Grand Sport Wheels, Grand Sport Flares and a functional rollbar.
I respect everyone's opinion and find merit in each argument for and against certain features. Here's my initial take. The gills are too big and should slope forward somewhat to give it that "going fast even sitting still look". They're way too perpendicular and square for the rest of the design. Maybe the Europeans will eat up those HID euro headlights but the concealed headlamps are one of those things that you have come to expect and love about Corvette. I also agree that the fenders should flare out more. The brake rotors look like they should be bigger, slotted and cross-drilled. Where are the brake ducts? And why does have that big toothless grin up front? Another thought is if it is trying for a C3 retro look, why not bring the center of the nose more to a point. As it is, I agree with the others, looks too much like a Porche. Did anyone else notice the odd angle of the windows relative to the height of the roof? That's all I see right now. I'm going to study it some more. I also agree that Corvette should be very distinctive. A C5 in the rearview mirror is hard to distinguish from a Camaro until it gets real close. I don't have that problem with the C3's. I would like for the C6 to also be that distinctive, i.e. no guessing what it is because it should be obvious. |bouncy| |wavey|

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

For now, I don't like it. Of course, sometimes it takes a radical change time to grow on you. I think it looks very Japanese. |frown|

Eh... I'm not a huge fan of it. Some things look ok, but I don't really like the front end. I like hidden headlights as well. It'll be interesting to see what it is really going to look like. I hope they don't change it very drastically. I don't want it to look foreign, like the Viper that I think now looks like a Honda S2000.
