When we bought "The Beast" last fall there was a complete disconnect with the original owner. He refused to acknowledge any inquiries about the car that we passed through the dealership's sales staff regarding the car's documentation, service history, etc. This bugged the heck out of me so I did a little digging and just after the 1st of the year I sent him a letter politely asking that if he ever decided to part company with anything he had retained related to the car to please let us know.
The salesman we dealt with just happens to attend the same church we do. After the service yesterday morning he walked up to me with a smile on his face and handed me a black case with a C4 and ZR-1 logos on the front. He said the original owner had been in the dealership late last week and dropped this off at his desk. I must have looked pretty silly standing there with my jaw on the ground!
It looks like all the "stuff" is in there (coffee table book, driver's manual, owner's manual, video, warranty stuff, both copies of the window sticker, etc.) UNREAL...!!! I'd pretty much given up on it.
So whoever thinks that the "Easter Bunny" doesn't bring presents needs to rethink their position...!!!

WOW!! That's GREAT! YOU are fortunate!!!

I heard from the previous owner (2nd owner) of the Greypoop-on but he never offered any documentation papers (I' pretty sure he has some). What's weird is I was thinking of doing the same thing you did to see if I get a response. I hadn't done it yet because I wasn't sure of how to word it all.

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.
2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
I sent letters to the three owners I had documentation on (I am the 5th owner). The third owner got back to me and was able to tell me that, as he heard it, the original owner bought my car in 74 as an investment for one of his sons' college education. The car was then not sold until the early 90's. It would seem that if someone held on to a car for that purpose, the paperwork would follow, but I don't have any orginal paperwork. That third owner gave me some info, but that's it. I included self-addressed stamped envelopes to all of the PO's I knew of, but he only e-mailed back, and only twice. Additional attempts were not answered.
Lucky you!!
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I'm still trying to track down the pedigree on mine. But, since I've only owned her about five months, I guess I ought to be patient. So far, no answers to letters I sent on the three leads I found. Jim's story provides some hope.
I'll keep trying.

That makes the whole thing just a little more valuable..Good going Jim..
