Thanx, Ken! I'll have to wait 'till the w/end to test the other stuff. Hopefully, I'll get it going again soon!!!

Didn't think I would get a chance to mess with the "Katmobile" this w/end, due to the "Rita" situation. We were supposed to have some serious storms here, but they never really appeared.
Anyway, I didn't bring some of my test equip. home, but I did manage to do a few things to the cantankerous ol' b*!%ch!

I disconnected the main harness at the firewall passthrough, and I did find one terminal that had some green corrosion on it. Looked at the wiring diag., and guess what? That particular terminal is for the "Multiport Fuel Injection"!

I cleaned the connector, and resized the terminals for the inj. system, then bolted it back together.

I also discovered that there is one injector that is not "clicking" as much as the other 7 are. I can unplug that inj., and it doesn't make a lot of diff. in the idle, so I know now that I have at least one inj. I have to replace. Major pita! I have to remove the entire intake plenum & runners to get to the inj. Funny thing is, the ol' girl idles smooth, and runs perfectly!(for now)

I also found the the ECM is getting very hot while the engine is running. I still think it is the problem, so I'm gonna get a reman tommorrow for it. Could it be that the one inj. is overloading the driver in the ECM, and causing the problem? Hmmmm

I did take her out & drive around for a while, and had no problems, but I'm still a little gun-shy I'm thinking about driving it this week to work, and see how far it lasts! I'm going to put it up on the lift tommorrow, and make sure all the grounds on the bellhousing, and the back of the heads are clean & tight.
Wishes me Luckies!

The quad drivers in the injector can get hot when overstressed due to high amperage.  Newer computers shut down when they get hot to protect the computer.  Yours may be doing the same thing.  Before you replace the ECM (computer) try doing an ohm test on the questionable injector.  If the ohm reading is low, that could be the cause of the heat and shut down.  If you don't have specs, just compare it to several other injector ohm values, and make the compairson.

Thnx, Ken!
I drove 'er to the shop today w/no probs. Ordered a new 'puter from the dealer, and when it finally got there @ 5:30, it was the WRONG YEAR!!

I know a lot of guys update to the '89 ECM, but that requires a major re-wiring of the connectors. My orig 'puter has a 63 pin conn., and the newer one has a 23 terminal(flat) board conn.
The turd @ the dealer swears it's the right ECM #, but can't tell me why it has a diff. conn. He's supposed to get with "Mr Goodwrench"(Delco tech) in the a.m. & see what I can do.

I hate to send my unit out to have it repaired, as we have had really bad luck with those. Dam the luck!

I did get it up in the air, and double-checked all of the grounds on the back of the eng., went ahead and took them loose , cleaned, & retightened them. Just another reason to love the older cars! SOOOOO much easier to work on.

The next project will be replacing the friggin' injectors.
