Are there any Portland OR area C3VR members that belong to a local Vette club?  There are several to choose from and I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations.  If we do join one, it'd be nice to hang out with some C3VR members also.

[/QUOTE] Well I'm not a member of this club http://www.mthoodcorvettes.com/ but have partied with them at our PNW C3VR BBQ at Larry's (1BadLT1) house here in WA.  They really seemed like a great bunch of guys and their club sponsors an awsome show at Russ Chevrolet in Portland every summer.

Send Steve (WETVET) a private message, I believe he's a member of the Mt Hood Corvette Club Thumbs%20Up

Hope you have a C5 or later, because from my experiences that is what the majority of Corvette club members drive.

It really depends on the club and the individual members.

I know. Some guys bought their C5 or C6, never had an older Vette and don't know the history. They are only interested in showing off their new toy.

But there are many members who have graduated from C1-C4's and still appreciate the C3s and older Vettes.

I would recommend that you go to some meetings and meet some of the regular members. Ask them questions about their cars and yours. See what kind of response you get.

I belong to two local clubs. Both have been around for a looonnnng time. One has 450 members. The other has about 20 members. Good people in both clubs. Mostly couples who like to socialize. And of course a few wrench-turners here and there.

But be careful. If you go to all the meetings, they will elect you to some job like President and you will really be hooked.

I'm a member of the Northwest NCRS club.  Most of the activity stems from the car owners who are in Portland.  Of course, this club is primarily for the restoration/judging process.  I think there may be a Mt Hood Club but have never talked to any of them.  I'm moving to Lake Oswego soon so we can probably meet some time..

I looked at the NW NCRS club web site and did get the impression that it focused on restoration.  I want to make our Vette look sharp but am not interested in restoring it to original condition or showing it.  For example, I want comfy, adjustable seats vs original equipment.  I think I'll check out a few meetings of some of the clubs....  I like the logo on the Mt Hood Vettes shirts.  Would be nice if some other C3VR members were already members, though...

Meeting some time does sound good....  We'll be on opposite sides of Portland, though!  We rarely venture to the SW (gives my husband flash-backs to Southern California!  Shocked)  There's lots of nice places to meet in between, though!  Do ya like sailing???

By the way, is that a "regular" luggage rack on the back of your Vette or the T-Top carrier?

I used to sail Hobie Cats.   Had a 16 and 18.   The car has a luggage rack and then I purchased the rack that connects to the luggage rack that holds the T-tops.  Ordered it from Pacific Corvettes out of Puyallup, WA.

Kewl!  We'll have to check into that before the Carson City trip.

Let me know when you're settled in LO.  Maybe hubby & I can take you guys to dinner as a welcome to the area!

So, you have sailed!!! KEWL.  We're always looking for people to take sailing!!!  Any excuse to get out on the river.  We haven't had the Vette through a summer yet.  The two fiberglass money pits will be competing for our attention!!!

Same goes for any one else in the Portland area in the summer....give us a jingle...maybe we can introduce you to the Columbia River!

Larry-

They sound like a great group.  I'm going to try to make the meeting this Thursday.  It's pretty close to home.

Please do keep us in mind for the swap meet.  I'm not sure we'll be able to make it because we're going on vacation that next week and aren't sure if we'll be leaving the 14th or 15th.  Hopefully we'll know soon!!

Thanks for the input!!
