Vette(s): 1969 Daytona Yellow Coupe - ZZ4/4 speed, Hurst shifter, Griffin aluminum radiator w/ Dual Spals, March Serpentine Pulley kit, Hookers with STS Racing Baffles, VB&P Suspension bits, 17" AR Hopsters, L-88 Hood
I couldn't get too close since the dealer had it suspended from a crane all covered up as a teaser. The sign out front flashes "It's here!", but you can't get anywhere near it.

I agree w/Ben, if I could afford a 67', I'd be in heaven. My next choice would have been an all steel bumper C3, I just could not find a clean enough one for my anal self, in the dollar range I could afford.
My third choice would be the C5, in yellow, which I just bought. One sweet ride, handles like a dream and runs like a spotted ass ape!!
Not sold yet on the C6’s front end, I’m not sure I like the headlights yet.

Yes, I agree whoever pulled that stunt is crazy, and is mentaly-unstable. The new C6 Z06 is supposed to have a 7-Liter engine! Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooahhhhhhhh that makes me excited! Whip-Ass! Go Chevy! Can I ask one question? Why does Chevy have soem of their cars built in Canada, or Mexico?

Well Louis here is something to think about.
The Mazda pickup is a Ford Ranger
The Ford Probe is a Mazda MX6
The Villiager is a Nissan Quest
The Geo Prizm and the Toyota Corolla are the same car
The new Jaguar and the Thunderbird have the same platform
The Ford Festiva is a Kia
Saab is owned by GM
GM own part of Toyota
Chrysler owns part of Mitubishi, but them selves are owned by Mercedes
The Dodge Colt is a Mitubishi
Many Fiats have Volkwagon transmissions
Omni and Horizon had a VW engine the first couple of years
BMW, Toyota, and many others are made here in the states
A couple of years ago the car with the most American content with the most sales dollars staying in the US was, perhaps still is, the Honda Accord. The only place in the world that makes the Accord Wagon is Ohio, and we send them to Japan.
What is a foreign car? What is domestic? Tough to answer anymore.

I have to wonder why GM feels the Vette needs to "compete with the worlds highest-tech supercars?" No pop-ups so that the car can be more aerodynamic at night? Give me a break. For people who have the $$ and the desire for such a high-end car, I think they choose the Porsche or Ferrari over the Vette every time. It has much more to do with the mystique and status of the rare and expensive, exotic foreign machine, rather than the pure #s of speed, handling and cost. In fact, a lower cost probably HURTS the Vette with that crowd. I know as well as anyone - I used to own a 911 when I was younger and stupid. What a money pit! I think Vette buyers want something uniquely American, something with a little nostalgic hot-rod/muscle car feel : A big V-8, meaty rubber, exhaust with a throaty little rumble, swoopy fenders, a long hood, low seating, with a high dash and doors, real gauges, an engine you can look at (not a plastic cover, simplicity everywhere, I could go on and on... My perception is that when it comes to the Vette, GM is missing all the signs that this would be ENORMOUSLY successful. Just look at the success of recent nostalgia designs such as the Viper, Prowler, PT Cruiser, T-Bird(?), SSR pickup(!), 2005 Chrysler 300 and the 2005 Mustang. Yet when it comes to the Vette, for some reason, GM feels like they have to shun their good 'ole American roots and try to act like a foreigner. I like 59s, C2 convertibles, all C3s, and the C5s, but I don't see myself ever attracted to the C6.
One final thought: In order to identify the qualities American men dream of in their cars, look at what we go to car shows and cruise-ins to drool over. Why don't car manufacturers understand this? I understand that safety issues keep them from being able to EXACTLY duplicate the 69 Vettes and Camaros, but if they could do with those desisgns what Ford did for the 2005 Mustang, WOW, that would be huge!

What I personally like is the Corvette that I am driving at the moment...
I own five of them (pics are accessable by looking at my sig) and my brothers 99 still sits in his garage for me awaiting his will to be probated...and his wife to say drive it your garage...
But to be honest IF I were to buy a new one it would have to be another Ragtop...and a very low optioned car.
I just have little or no use for power seats, fancy sound systems, dual heat zones, or even power windows..
forget the power top also.. I want to drive the darn thing not live it it...
The C6 just looks to me like I could really toss it around some curves...get into a 4 wheel drift and have a blast... I like the way it looks smaller then the C5
which I think looks way to big to be a sportscar...
Just my opinions...

I love the C5 and C6 for a daily driver. But the lines and simplicity of the C3 is my favorite. Anyone with a little $$ can own a newer vette but is takes a passion to own a C3. My favorites are 69BB vert (love the gills, power, and style), 73 vert (different), and of course my 80 (gills close to 69 with great lines, less rust, and great cruiser). I am still working on my wife to allow another C3 vette into the house, so far she is winning, but I have not given up. Heck, I would not mind adding a 70 Chevelle LS6, or 69 Camaro, or ......
